Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is one of those films that I went in to see almost completely blind of what to expect, I’d seen the brief trailers for the film, but not much else, so I wasn’t sure what the film was going to be like, good, bad or worse!
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter – Blazing Minds Film Review
So for starters the film a complete play on the history of Lincoln, Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov have got together to bring us a story of Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) secret life as a Vampire Hunter, seriously, Lincoln as a Vampire Hunter. The idea is that the vampires, headed up by Adam (Rufus Sewell) have the slaves for their personal food supply and the battle of Gettysburg etc is all down to the freedom of the slaves and to wipe out the vampires, I know it’s completely bonkers!
But bizarrely this mad-cap and strange story based around the 16th President of America, does become very enjoyable, you forget that a historical figure is being used as a 19th century superhero and after a short while, once the vampires start getting their fangs kicked in, it becomes a roller-coaster ride, with plenty of thrills, a few bits of dodgy CGI (look out for the stampede chase!).
The 3D is very nicely done giving a good bit of depth to some of the actions sequences as well as some of the slower sections of the film, the action sequences are nicely done and as expected from a Timur Bekmambetov directed film, though some sequences did seem to be a little poor of on the visual quality, but hey, you can’t have everything.
The thing to remember when you watch Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, is just don’t take it seriously, enjoy it for its silliness and the fact that it’s one of those movies that is going to either make you think, “ooo Vampires” or “How dare they use Abraham Lincoln and mock him this way”.
It’s not going to be one of those films that is going to be a massive box-office hit, it’s not a film that will want you begging to see it over and over again, but what it could do is have you thinking “I’d like to learn a little more about Abraham Lincoln and his fight to abolish slavery”, or then again it could just make you want to see some more vampire movies, who knows!
Overall Thoughts for Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
It’s a fun film, it’s silly, it’s not to be taken seriously, but if you love vampires and like action movies then you really can’t go wrong, it’s got action, romance and heartbreak. An enjoyable night out with your mates.

It is a crazy film, but most of all it’s fun, daft, but fun

yes, it’s a really crazy film! no surprise Tim Burton has done it! Probably I’ll see it.
I didn’t like too much his latest movie, and my wife was totally bored (well, me too). but this new movie seems all except a boring movie.

Thanks for stopping by Damien, video! What’s that then
Anything by Tim Burton is bound to be great! I’ve seen the trailer to it so many times on the adverts in-between Big Brother lol

It’s only produced by Tim Burton, but it does have that Burton feel to it, I was surprised Johnny Depp didn’t pop up somewhere in the film
