What do O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox all have in common?

For those who may have been living under a rock during the last 15 years or so, the three Americans were all cleared of murdering loved ones.

In the first two cases, the victims (minus Ronald Goldman in the O.J. case) were well-known to the alleged perpetrators of the crimes. In the latter instance, Knox was roommates with British native Meredith Kercher, who was murdered in 2007 in the Perugia, Italy residence the two shared while studying abroad.

After spending some four years in an Italian jail cell, Knox, originally found guilty, was set free last October in an Italian courtroom (court overturned the conviction), much to the shock of many across the world.

To many like myself, if Knox didn’t participate in the actual killing, she had some role in the attempted cover up. Her boyfriend at the time, Rafaele Sollecito, also experienced freedom from behind bars, meaning Ivory Coast native Rudy Guede was the only person convicted that remains behind bars.

Kiss and Tell

Now, word comes that the Seattle native, pictured with new boyfriend James Terrano, has sold her memoir to publisher HarperCollins to the cool tune of some $4 million, according to some reports.

According to a company spokesperson, the book will detail the Knox trial and her time behind bars, all the while she proclaimed her innocence of a crime that grabbed attention not only here in the U.S., but much of the world.

“Knox will give a full and unflinching account of the events that led to her arrest in Perugia and her struggles with the complexities of the Italian judicial system,” HarperCollins said in a statement. “Aided by journals she kept during her imprisonment, Knox will talk about her harrowing experience at the hands of the Italian police and later prison guards and inmates. She will reveal never before-told details surrounding her case, and describe how she used her inner strength and strong family ties to cope with the most challenging time of her young life.”

Meantime, Sollecito is also reportedly shopping a book of his own that will detail his experiences in the case and in jail.

Is This Truly Behind Her?

While Knox was set free last October, it was recently reported that Italian prosecutors were seeking to have the country’s highest criminal court reinstate the murder convictions of Knox and Sollecito.

Meantime, the appeals court has stood by its belief that the guilty verdicts against the pair were not corroborated by any evidence, and that the court hadn’t proven they were in the home when Kercher was murdered.

I would be the first to say that I truly believe Amanda Knox had some role or at the least knows what happened that night back in 2007 when Kercher was murdered.

That being said, she now stands to essentially be set for life with a huge payday courtesy of HarperCollins. Well, that is after all her legal team’s fees are taken care of. Okay, maybe set for a decade or two.

Can I blame her for selling her thoughts? No. Would I spend money to read the book? No.

If Knox were smart, she would take the bulk of that money and donate it to a charity to assist women who have been victims of domestic violence, etc.

I have a hunch, however, that the only bank account that will ever see that money once her legal bills are covered belongs to one Amanda Knox.

So, do you plan on buying her book when it hits the shelves in early 2013?

Probably not going to buy the book. I don’t really see the point. I agree with you that nobody will see any of the money but her. Which is a shame sense of all people she should have sympathy for women in near situations.
