If you are interesting in getting backlinks from blogs where you post your comments then probably the best way is to post comments on a blog that is “DoFollow”.
A simple way to find out is to download a FireFox plugin called “SearchStatus“, this is an extremely handy plugin, not only will it highlight all the Nofollow Links on a page so that you can see what is a DoFollow link, but, it also display a websites Google PageRank, It’s Alexa rank and it’s Compete Rank.
It also have loads of other features such as showing a sites whois listing, Meta Tags, link report and much more.
So if you are serious about for commenting on DoFollow blogs then this is a FireFox plugin that I would personally recommend SearchStatus.

I’ll second this recommendation. I love that tool for the dofollow, the google page rank and alexa information.
Not to mention the keyword density tool and others.
Best FireFox plugin outside of Firebug that I’ve downloaded.

I’m interested in why you don’t use dofollow on our blog, when you talk so highly about it. BTW I am using a plug-in called ‘nodofollow’ for firefox, works fine, but hasn’t that extra feature you are telling about with that other plug-in. I will read more about it….

I have a DoFollow plugin running on the blog, but, I have it set so that after x amount of comments by someone will be made DoFollow, this is the way I prefer to use it, in that way simple one off comments that have little meaning or are just posted to get backlinks are not followed, where as those that post here with good worthwhile comments do get followed. Also the Monthly Top 10 Commentators listed in the sidebar is DoFollow as a thank you to the Top 10 Commentators.

This is a very useful plugin that I am currently using actually. It does make things a lot easier when it comes to finding dofollow websites, and it has helped me a lot in improving my results in search engines.
