A couple of days ago I received a package in the post courtesy of FuelMyBlog and Aveeno Skincare Solutions with a few samples of Aveeno in, what’s Aveeno I hear you say, well sit back and let me tell you.
Aveeno is a collection of creams and lotions etc that contains naturally active ingredients designed for all types of dry skin from mild to extremely dry, the creams which I have received contain Colloidal Oatmeal to actively moisturise dry and sensitive skin and regular use helps prevent your skin from dryness and irritation caused by your skin dehydrating.
So here’s what I received in my package:
Now I decided to use this cream on my hands every morning just after getting washed and dressed to go out to work, in the line of work that I do, my hands are in and out of water for most of the day and do have a terrible tendency to become very dry from from the water, so the challenge for this cream was, would it help with the dryness of my hands!
The answer, yes. After using the cream everyday I have noticed that my hands are not as dry as they used to be and do feel a lot softer than they used to be, so it’s certainly working, so a big thumbs up from me on that one.
Next to try in my daily regime was the Daily Moisturising Lotion, now this is great for all over the body, I have used mainly on my legs after shaving as my skin usually becomes quite dry after shaving so this has been wonderful.
As with the cream my legs are smoother and the skin feels a nice and soft.
Upon massaging the lotion into my legs it was very quickly absorbed into my skin leaving my legs feeling very, very nice.
I also used the lotion after having a shower and used it virtually all over to keep the moisture locked in after showering, which I use to do with baby oil, but the Aveeno lotion is a lot less messier and doesn’t have a smell to go with it after application.
Another thumbs up for a great product.
Finally the bath Powder with Colloidal Oatmeal
This was the final test which I did last night after a day at work, so it was great to have a relaxing soak in the bath, an excuse to try the bath powder really
Following the instructions on the packet I added the contents into the warm running water and filled the bath, the first thing I noticed was I could smell the Oatmeal, strange but a nice smell all the same, also noticed that the powder dissolved well into the water, which a good sign!
Now the bath was relaxing and as soon I got into the bath I noticed that I could feel the difference on my legs, so the moisturising must of been working, after a nice long soak in the bath I finally decided to get out, yes I can say my skin did indeed feel softer to the touch and no after smell to the skin either, brilliant!
Here’s some information from Aveeno on their products for those that really want to know more:
Over half of British women suffer from dry skin which is often made worse by the harsh conditions of winter weather. The Aveeno range has been recommended by dermatologists around the world for 60 years for the management of dry skin and associated conditions such as eczema, and provides an effective way of undoing winter weather damage.
In 2008 Aveeno teamed up with NetDoctor.co.uk2 and surveyed people with very dry skin or conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Before the trial, many of the participants revealed having dry skin conditions had a huge impact on their lives: 94% said dry skin affects their confidence and 71% said their dry skin can stop them from carrying out their usual routine. After trialling Aveeno® Cream for three weeks, 94% felt more confident, and 98% felt there had been a change in their dry skin.
The Natural Power of Oatmeal
Aveeno only uses naturally active ingredients from nature, proven to benefit the skin. Oats have long been known for being absorptive and hypo-allergenic, whilst softening, cleansing and soothing the skin. In 1945 scientific advances made way for the fine milling of oatmeal into “colloidal oatmeal”. This allows oatmeal to retain its naturally active benefits, which include:
- Moisturising skin: Oat proteins leave a protective barrier on the skin, which prevents water loss to help maintain moisture.
- Cleansing dry skin: Oats are naturally absorptive and when in powder form, act like tiny sponges to withdraw dirt and dead skin cells so they can be rinsed away.
- Soothing dry, irritated skin: Colloidal oatmeal has been clinically proven to relieve dry skin and associated itching.

I’d be careful about calling the lotions “natural”. Aveeno uses a whole host of petrochemicals, and also uses methylparaben as a preservative.
Aveeno also makes a line of products with soy extracts to brighten the skin’s tone. These are nice too.
Great post! Skin care is important and this is great information On skin care for all ages.
Thanks for your good articles. My tips – Eating foods in their natural form like green leafy vegetables, beta carotene fruit and veggies can be wonderful for you. These are natural sources of Vitamin A which can promote beautiful and healthy skin.
A good post. I agree that using natural ingredients is the way forward for healthy skin and a healthy diet. The less we play around with raw materials the better. I believe they were created to be used in the form we found them.

My kids have a little bit of ecxema when they were babies and the Oatmeal in the Aveeno body wash did help their skin, they also make an oatmeal pack you can dissolve in the bath which is really good for the skin. We always have a few Aveeno products in the house.

I’ve had the Oatmeal for the bath, weird but very soothing, I found that Aveeno is great on my skin and since doing this review, I’ve kept buying it
I like Aveno products. They are a lot less expensive compared to boutique organic products, but have a lot of the same features.

Never heard about Aveeno before, so thanks for the advice. Must say I prefer natural remedies though. Stuff like honey, olive oil, almond oil etc are amazing for keeping your skin moisturized. I suggest everyone to try!
