And We Get Some Gorgeous Weather » The Blazing Minds Twitter Now Has Over 4,000 Followers Posted by Karen in Twitter A few days ago I posted over at the Official Remergence Blog with news that @RemBeatZ had hit 5,000 followers on Twitter, which is fantastic and it has boosted the bands Twitter a bit. Then not long after that I am proud to say that @BlazingMinds the official Twitter for this blog, received a tweet from @MrMileStone to let me know that I was nearing that 4,000 mark and my Twitter had 3,995 followers. @BlazingMinds Oooo, you are close to 4000 followers!! I’ve learned quite a bit about SEO, but not much about social media (recently). When I first started blogging, the popular social media sites were digg, technorati, and Stumble Upon. I found the social media game at that time to be pretty tedious. Back then, there was a game to these services. You had to collect as many friends as possible and spend a ton of time spamming links at them asking for diggs, stumbles, etc. As well, you had to reciprocate for them. Some of the best people at generating traffic from those sites at the time admitted to me that they nearly all of their time on social media and very little time blogging. I had a similar experience and put social media on the back burner after Digg changed and it was nearly impossible to get stories on the made popular list. Now, obviously Twitter and Facebook are the big guns for social media. Have things changed much or does the social media game still operate under the same premise?
