Do you still blog as hard as you did the first day you started?
Posted by Karen in Blogging, Blogging TipsA few days ago I posted the question over at the BloggerLuv community, just to see if bloggers do indeed work as hard on their blogs as they did when they first started blogging.
Suffice to say there were some really good responses and it does seem that fellow bloggers are still working hard on their blogs and enjoying every moment of it, which is great to see, as with blogging you have to stick to it to make it work and the majority of bloggers that I know are hard workers, anyhoo here re just some of the answers I received:
- Peter Pelliccia Are you kidding, I blog harder now than when I first started, and I enjoy it a whole lot more too.
- Ms. Ileane Speaks In a perfect world it should be easier now than it was in the beginning! But I agree with Peter, I work harder now. As I learn more about blogging and social networking, I find there’s more to do! Before I learned how to get traffic through networking I would publish a post and be happy if I could convince my daughter and my friend Kissie to read it. So if I got 2 hits a day I was a happy camper!
- John Sullivan NO
I still take 3 mins to write a post
I don’t waste time doing what doesn’t work
I don’t run around trying to make a bunch of fake friends and try to connect with people that don’t connect
I try to look out for my friends
It’s ALOT easier now
I’m just as passionate just not as disillusioned like I was so that saves ALOT of time
Don’t Chase GHOSTS - HART I’m spending as much time as I did in the early years, but I feel I am more productive at least, in that most everything I do I try to make it HAVE A PURPOSE (#HART-Empire) in a long-term approach. I can’t remember the last time I did NOT see a “99″ on my stumble toolbar count .. I occasionally do stumble, but not from requests anymore as that was the biggest time waster for me.But .. am I a better blogger than before? Do I blog just as hard as I did before?5 out 7 days a week I don’t even feel I am a blogger at all actually .. and think that term will die out by the end of 2010.
But don’t let it stop there, I’d love to hear your answer to the question, so please let us all know, Do you still blog as hard as you did the first day you started?

I’ve had a few blogs that I started with passion and drive, but soon lost interest in them. The problem is that I usually start to let off topic posts creep in and end up losing my purpose. I now have a personal blog for all of the off-topic stuff and one that focuses on my professional endeavours. I now manage to keep a bit more motivation, but I’d be lying if I said I was still as driven as when I started – I think this is probably true of us all?

I tend to take the summers “off”, so I’m not doing some of the “regular” things I do when The Evil Teen is at school all day.
My blogging really depends on my mood/health.
The answer is: No, I don’t blog as hard as I did when I started.

Now didn’t you used to blog everyday
There is nothing worse than The Evil Teen to put a stop to your cunning plans
I find myself having spurts of energy when it comes to my enthusiasm. I will lag off and then get inspired and want to do better and will for awhile until I lag off again.

Good question Karen. I would say no as it gets gets easier with experience. I can knock up a post in half an hour if required, perhaps not an epic work but decent enough to publish!

I’m increasing slowly & constantly all my posts monthly (English is my second language and take a lot to make them) so the answer is yes harder than before. Planned new sections and engaging in new social channels too

Hi Karen.. I find myself in the typical ups and downs that come with having a busy life. I try to find time to blog regularly, but I could always try a LOT harder. This post gave me a little motivation so it’s off to write another draft for me.

We blog harder than now than we did when first starting out. Mainly because we understand how many new clients our blog generates for us, plus our two oldest are in college and owe us something in return for us paying their college bills. Makes for expensive blog posts, but heck, some of what they blog about might be paying their next tuition payment.

That’s a really good prompt you came up with – I’m actually curious what inspired it. I have to say, I don’t know whether I’m blogging as hard as when I first started. I know I work hard at this, but my biggest wish is to work more efficiently. When I first started, I was very efficient, getting a good amount of writing done and attracting an audience I was proud of.

I was inspired by my own thoughts on blogging, I do blog hard and wondered if other bloggers did the same over a period of time
Fair enough. I can’t really think of bloggers that don’t work hard, myself. I do see some bloggers not work at all, and I do see a lot of bloggers work very badly. Which I guess brings up the question: Who feels they’re doing their best at blogging?

I blog in waves. I work on client projects and a single mother of two teenage boys. There are times when I get burned out from blogging because I also write for a living and I think I will skips a few days and always seems that weeks go by before I post again. I am trying to doing a better job of planning out my posts so that I can blog more regularly, hope I can manage this and not get burned out again.

I’m quite enjoy with the life of blogging now if compare to the day i started. I just write when i wish to. Last time, i used to force myself to write blog post. Consequently, i was unhappy with blogging. Luckily, i have found my balance to write only i wish. I think this is much better.

I do not blog as hard as I did when I first started, which was about a year ago. Then I was blogging 2-3 times a week at work, and maybe that many times at home for practice.
Now it’s become less of a priority at work, so it happens 3-5 times a month.
At home, it depends. When the kids are visiting their dad (I’m a stepfather) across the country, I tend to publish every day. When they’re home… yikes! I try to publish as much as possible, but it’s hit or miss at best.
