I’m trying to build up some ‘rainy day’ posts myself. I’ve been using the draft feature in WordPress to set some of these posts back for later use. When I’m ready, its just a few clicks to publish. Good to have things on tap.

Jim, that is another really good idea, and was my 2nd tactic and topic for my next post about “Need a quick article” which I am drafting. Sometimes if pressed for idea’s I will quickly hit CNN News, YouTube or tap into the news media to find something to write about quickly. I often leverage twitter as well, searching for things related to technology or entertainment.

It has been hard but my primary blog has had 1 unique post (at least) every day for 15 months, I often write 3-7 posts on Saturday/Sunday and queue them for the week. But sometimes I stay up after the wife and kids go to bed and try to write 2-3 posts every other night.

I always have a few posts in my drafts section. Sometimes I will think of a post to write or just a small idea and when I do I create a little draft even if its just one or two words. Sometimes its only a title. That way when I have a day that I don’t have anything to write about I will pick up one of my drafts.

Sometimes for a quick post you can grab a video and make a comment about it. Its quick and easy and keeps the content flowing on your blog. You don’t seem to have any trouble with that as it seems that you post every day!

Great tip. I like to create as much content in one sitting as I use my content for different places. Some content goes to my blog, other content goes to article directories and so forth. If I had to sit and write a new piece of content every day I would end up struggling, life just gets in the way some days.

As we speak, I probably have enough posts to carry me through to the new year.

I like many bloggers when I first started out just churned out 5 – 10 articles per day with tons of inspiration and enthusiasm. Now that I have been blogging 15 months having that much time and “inspiration” to churn out 10 articles a day is almost impossible, but sometimes I get inspired and write three or four in a row. Pacing yourself and saving them is always better because some days I don’t have time to blog and wished I had stored a post or two.

Glad others have found this method a valuable tool for them as well.

good tip Justin, I was having this problem when I first started blogging, but now I don’t have but you know sometimes I am forced to do that and I remember Karen also talked about this before, some times I have posts but I want to give time for recent posts to stay on the main page for more time which I think it’s kind of important as some visitors may hit the main page of my blog.

I love rainy day posts. I just depleted my stack when I got sick for a few days. Now it’s time to build it up again. They’re great for when something gets in the way of blogging, or when it’s a really sunny day and I want to go outside and spend sometime away from the computer.

Great post. I actually use this method. Like you said, some days i feel like writing articles all day long and some dys i dont. So using those days to write more articles and using them in a “rainy day” is very helpful. The only problem with that, at least for me, is that i get tempted to publish all teh saved articles in one day, so i can add a lot of content to the blog. But i learned to “control” myself. Any way thank you for the post.
