The Bourne Legacy – Blazing Minds Film Review

It’s been a while since we’ve had a Bourne movie and funnily enough, this is a Bourne movie without Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), so how does that work then.

The Bourne Legacy takes us deeper in to the world of Bourne and the others like him and how he has the skills, this time the story follows Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner), as he tries to get to the truth.

I have to admit that it is a little strange without Jason Bourne and Legacy is set 6 weeks after the previous film, where we last saw Jason Bourne.

The Bourne Legacy is very much like the previous Bourne movies and does follow the same recipe for action and stunts, though this one does to run a little slower, but the set pieces are well done and the chase sequences do have you on the edge of your seat.

The pace of the film does slow down at one point through the second half of the film, but with a brilliant chase sequence towards the end really makes up for it.

Missing Bourne In More Ways Than One!

So as I mentioned earlier Jason Bourne is not in this film, though his photo is, so how can the film be as good as the previous Bourne movies, well to be honest it can’t and ‘m not sure whether it was the lack of Bourne in the film, but it just doesn’t seem to have that Bourne feel.

Rachel Weisz as Dr Marta Shearing, seems a little out-of-place and sometimes transparent though the film, with only Jeremy Renner bring the film back on track for short periods at a time.

The production and quality of stunt work and special effects are brilliant and they do work extremely well in the set pieces that they are used in, but still, Bourne Legacy never really hits the mark and at one point I was thinking, “how much longer”.

Overall Thought For The Bourne Legacy

Not a bad action movie, although it could have done with a lot more action and a lot less trying to baffle us with the science behind “Treadmill” etc. You’ll like this if you like to watch a film with less pace and spy dramas.

    Hi

I saw this film after reading several reviews including this one, I do agree with you in some cases. Its not Bourne without Bourne but it does give the franchise another road to go down. Bourne wasn’t the only agent and Treadstone wasn’t the only Black Ops. The first half of the film went quite deep, for an action film, into the science behind it. Therefore was slow at times. The last 30mins is fast paced and then just suddenly ended. At some point like the review said I was waiting for it to end, but at the end I wanted more. Overal I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. The other Bourne films are a good 4.5.
