 Web Building (Photo credit: B.Garry)
Instead of having your site hosted by a web hosting company out there, you could opt to start your own company. If you succeed in this venture, you could reduce your hosting costs, as well as make some extra income.
If you want to start selling web hosting, there are two ways of going about it. The first method involves purchasing equipment, leasing business space, setting up servers, hiring staff to offer support, and finding clients. This is a very complicated process, and is not advisable for people who lack technical knowledge.
The second method is to open a reseller account with an existing host. Once you pay the fee for a reseller account, you will be allotted bandwidth and disk space which you can then sell off to other individuals. Reseller packages come in different forms. There are those that require you to do business under the hosting company’s name, while others allow you to operate under your own unique business name. You should also take not of the billing element of the reseller package. Some packages offer everything you require to start off right away, while others some without a billing gateway.

Any small business knows the importance of keeping a close eye on their finances, but how much do small business owners actually know about their responsibilities and financial obligations?
Do you know the difference between gross and net profit? Do you know what turnover means? Do you understand what needs to be on your invoices once you’re VAT registered, or the turnover threshold before you business is eligible for VAT?
These are all extremely important elements of your businesses financial fitness, yet it’s surprising how many small business owners don’t know too much about them – a fact highlighted by a recent series of surveys carried out by Intuit (makers of QuickBooks – a tool many business owners will be familiar with). But rather than simply presenting the findings of their data in standard text format, Intuit went one step further and produced this fantastic infographic to visualise the data, entitled An Infographic Look At Small Business Financial Fitness: Read the rest of this entry »

The heads at the nation’s second largest bank by assets, Bank of America, have come up with another idea of how to get some of your money should you be banking with them.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, BOA is looking to alter its basic checking accounts, meaning there would be a monthly charge (anywhere from perhaps $6 to $25) for customers unless they say yes to banking online, purchasing additional products or maintaining pre-set balances.
So why is BOA looking to head down this path?
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the company’s 2011 revenue dipped by $26.2 billion, or nearly one-fourth of its 2009 level.
BOA Begins Test Programs
Lest you think it is just BOA that is looking to increase the fees it charges customers, as the report also notes that several other well-known banks, including Wells Fargo and J.P. Morgan Chase will be doing likewise. To date, BOA is reportedly trying out some test programs with some accounts in Arizona, Georgia and Massachusetts, but there has not been enough feedback to date to say how they are being received.

What do O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox all have in common?
For those who may have been living under a rock during the last 15 years or so, the three Americans were all cleared of murdering loved ones.
In the first two cases, the victims (minus Ronald Goldman in the O.J. case) were well-known to the alleged perpetrators of the crimes. In the latter instance, Knox was roommates with British native Meredith Kercher, who was murdered in 2007 in the Perugia, Italy residence the two shared while studying abroad.
After spending some four years in an Italian jail cell, Knox, originally found guilty, was set free last October in an Italian courtroom (court overturned the conviction), much to the shock of many across the world.

Today many credit card companies and banks are limiting the amount of money they are prepared to risk. This means that people who would have naturally qualified for credit in the past are left out in the cold for sins that could easily be overlooked. Still, while those in charge play a hedged game those of us who don’t have a perfect credit history, and those of us who have no credit history at are left to struggle through without.
The obvious thing to do would be to fix your credit rating. That’s perfectly reasonable but there’s a Catch 22; if you can’t get credit you can’t fix your credit and you can’t get credit until your credit is fixed. So what can you do?
Repairing a credit history takes some time and money, however, once you’ve done it you’ll be glad. To have access to credit is something many of us take for granted and would find it hard to make do without.

As a youngster, I remember where I was when I heard the news back in the summer of 1977 that Elvis had passed away.
Back then there was no Internet, no 24-hour news networks, and no rampant speculation among celebrity “doctors” as to what may have caused the death.
Flash forward more than 30 years later and two of the music industry’s biggest superstars have left us – Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
Houston, who passed away Feb. 11 in a Beverly Hills hotel room, died at the young age of 48, with officials holding off on releasing an exact cause of death. Jackson, who passed away in 2009 inside his Los Angeles area residence, was found to have died of Propofol intoxication.
What both deaths have in common besides the obvious shock and impact on the music world and life in general, is that before the two were even buried, some were accidentally or purposefully attempting to cash in on their deaths.
