A new series on Blazing Minds, every Monday I bring you an interview with up and coming solo artists or bands.
The “Who’s the Band?” series brings to you a collection of known and unknown artists interviewed for Blazing Minds.
If you are in a band or you are a solo artist then please contact me for more details..
Something a little different for this weeks band interview, it is literally a band, the Middleton Band is a brass band and I was asked by Pam Smith aka @sterlingsop for an interview, so I’m proud to bring you the Middleton Band for this weeks ”Who’s the Band” so I hope you all enjoy the interview..
Q: Hi Pam, so how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: The band name is “Middleton Band” which is the area we are from in Manchester. Traditionally bands were called after the village or coal mine where they were based and we are no different. Most people have heard of the Brighouse and Rastrick brass band? Well that’s two villages in Yorkshire and the band drew members from both, hence the name.
Q: Which instrument do you play in the band?
A: I currently play tuned percussion (timpani, cymbals, xylophone, tubular bells, glockenspiel etc) but until this time last year I was the principal cornet player. I got ill and haven’t had the strength in my stomach muscles to blow properly so for now I’m hitting thing with sticks instead!
Q: What influenced you to be a member of a brass band?
A: My music teacher at primary school. He came into the classroom one day and said “who wants to be in the band?”. I put my hand up and tried to blow the cornet, which I managed ok first time. Nearly 33 years later – here am I still playing!!

OK folks, yes I know it’s been a while since I last posted a “Who’s The Band” article, but I’m proud to say that I’ve had the opportunity to bring you a new artist interview, so lets not waste any more time and get on with it
Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: Well When i first started rapping I used to call myself Jodi Da-Rookie. Jodi is my middle name. Or rather one of my middle names. Funny enough my initials are DJ Double R. But that didn’t hold. One day while in class my friend started tagging (writing graffiti) all ova my notebook, home room boredom. And what he wrote was DaReal. And i asked him why, and he said because you always keep it real and say whatever is on your mind. At the time it was funny until i truly started to develop my craft. The artist Jodi DaReal became a total other personality. Darielle (my first name) was shy and kept to her self. Jodi was REAL and wanted everyone to know that.

Ever popular than ever I’m proud to bring you another interview in my series of “Who’s the Band” and this time I bring you an interview with Dysfunctional Kid, so I’m going to stop rambling on and get on with the interview..
Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: It was made up one night, I don’t remember when. Dysfunctional Kid was kind of
my solo project back in the day, now that we’ve grown to a full band we’re
stuck with the stupid name.
Q: Introduce each member and instrument played or role in the band?
A: Levi “Multiple Beards” Netto plays drums and does none of the singing. Marl
Bro plays bass and takes care of some background vocals. Erik B. plays guitar
and does half of the singing and I play guitar and sing the other half.

Ever popular than ever I’m proud to bring another in my series of “Who’s the Band” and this week I bring you an interview with Brad Reason, so I’m going to stop rambling on and get on with the interview..
Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: I stuck with my name, Brad Reason. Then there was a time where I was doing a lot more DJ work, so I decided to pick a DJ name, and I went with DJ Doubledown. I loved the movie “Swingers” so I went with Doubledown. When I entered Second Life to begin my virtual world performance career, I used the first name Doubledown, and then at registration, I was given the option of several last names. I picked Tandino. So, my name became Doubledown Tandino in the virtual world, Second Life. In the real world, I stick with Brad Reason. Read the rest of this entry »

Ever popular than ever I’m proud to bring you another in my series of “Who’s the Band” and this week I bring you an interview with K-TRAXX, so I’m going to stop rambling on and get on with the interview..
Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: I actually had a few name but this one was bassed on an Idea for a productions company and I liked it as an artist/producer/dj name so I kept it.
Q: So please introduce yourself to our readers?
A: As a Producer, Composer, and DJ, I enjoy all types of music. Never prefered a specific style but my style reflects to what I listen to the most. It all started in 96 with my passion for music DJ’ing at house parties around town, and then at local clubs I got herd. Then in 98 me and a friend started messing around with anything we could get our hands on to make music. I don’t have a specific style but I create with what I am feeling.

Ever popular than ever I’m proud to bring you another in my series of “Who’s the Band” and this week I bring you an interview with a local band in my area “Sunrise Sunset”, so I’m going to stop rambling on and get on with the interview..
Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?
A: I used “Sunrise Sunset” as a username for a social networking website a few years previous to writing songs. It seemed to catch on as an alter ego to me so I thought I’d use it for my stage name. Read the rest of this entry »
