As I lay in bed last night,
The jaded moon beyond my sight,
A restless dream began a-creeping,
To envelop me whilst I was sleeping.

Strange occurrence, nightly vision,
Seems to keep my brain in rhythm.
With outstanding clarity,
The dream unveils for me to see

What lies behind my crippled mind,
And all the secrets there to find.
For though I lie in quiet darkness,
My thoughts whirl ’round with utter madness.

Only when I wake do I
Become accustomed to the sky
That, bearing Light, bids me abide
The movements of my body’s tide.

So waking from a dreamy flight,
I had a sudden urge to write
About some things that oft of late
I’ve dwelt upon in different state.

Firstly let me beg of ye,
Do not take this too heavily.
For I do speak of Sorcery,
Magick, Tarot, Ceremony.

The Ace of Wands first from the deck
To forge untrodden paths beneath,
And quell the fire born of sickly
Minds whose stigma reeks of Death.

Become my partner, walk with me
Along this road to Destiny.
The Universe in my right hand,
The Fool in left is upside down.

The Magus casts a glance askew
At all these things I thought I knew.
For within these sacred cards,
My heart is bound to stable yards.

Bred like cavalry for War
To spurn a tale of wanton gore.
Blood spills forth from pore to pore,
Oh God, I do not want for more.

Be not scared, though words are whimsy,
Playing with thy sanity,
I merely seek a way to bleed
My heart upon this nascent seed.

For as I said I often dream,
And all I’ve said is naught but cream,
Upon my coffee cup that seems
To give me life in early hours

Such as these, where typing scours
The Internet to find some prey
And feast upon, then call a day
But that enchantment I delay.

I know you will not comprehend
The message I am trying to send,
For thoughts like these are beyond mend.
Enough, enough, enough, enough.

I need a cigarette.

That’s the stuff.

And so it ends.

Dark Blessings and Good Will to all of You.

the first time i let my heart decide
what i shall and shan’t abide
things became so clear to me
as i rose up from drudgery

the last time i let my feelings go
i ever so much just wanted to show
a girl i liked a part of my world
and to her hand my heart unfurled

but this time seems so different
to that would-be love left negligent
she shines like silver green-eyed fire
for once let me have what i desire

I write a lot of poetry. Sometimes they find their ways into songs, other times they just lay there in a folder and are never seen by anyone. You, the net, are the first persons to see this particular one apart from myself. I think there’s something really interesting about that. About the first time you share something with someone. There are two “me”s: the me that everyone else perceives from the way I act and communicate, and then there’s the me that I know. I hope one day to be able to share the me I know, in all it’s darkest despair and brightest glory, with someone else. Poetry is a window into one part of the private mind, as are songs, as is painting. These things are important for without them that “I” that lives completely within oneself would truly never be seen by anyone else except that individual. Philosophically speaking, you could say then that “I” doesn’t exist unless these windows are opened. Unless the “me” that I know is shared, even through a tiny window of poetry, all you see is the “me” that you form in your own mind from my interactions with you. A shell. One thing that drives an artist is a desire to open these windows, to share the “me”, the “I” that I know with someone else.

And just like that, as you move onto another page, the window closes, and I am lost in the sea of “Everyone Else” again.

Write some poetry.

This is a guest post from Angus Maiden musical genius and DJ.

I thought I’d share a poem of mine with you:

“Become One With Me”

Beckoning towards the fire,
Eternal slave to her desire.
Come inside, the water’s clear,
Over, under, always near.
My eyes behold the stars above,
Embracing us with all their love…
Only you.
Not any other goddess would do.
Empty out my plague-ridden thoughts,
Winter’s sunlight, Summer’s frost.
Ice to sooth unravelled seams,
Time to dream immortal dreams.
Hold me, I’m forever yours.
Mine to adore, mine to kiss.
Eternal fire, eternal bliss.
