I was reading a post over at the Extreme John Blog the other day titled “10 Worst TV Shows” and it inspired me to write a post on something which really annoys me every time I turn on the TV and that is the amount of celebrity shows that we have on the TV these days.

The TV executives have even started revamping old shows and making them in to celebrity versions, where as many years ago you would have seen the public on a show trying to win prizes for themselves, now it celebrities doing the same thing but for their charities and no doubt the celebrities get paid for doing the shows anyway.

So for this post I thought I would list just some of the shows that really annoy me and in my point of view should either go back to having the public doing the shows or at least bring us something fresh on the TV that is worth watching.

  1. Celebrity Big Brother (thankfully the last of Big Brother ever!)
Those looking to get a bit of the starlight back, go into a house and make complete fools out of themselves!
  2. Celebrity Family Fortunes (old show revamped)
Two families answer strange questions to try to win money for charity
  3. I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here
Similar to Big Brother, celebrities with careers going down the toilet, try to get a bit of the starlight back by performing ridicules tasks.
  4. Strictly Come Dancing (old show revamped)
The original format was for ballroom dancers to compete against each other, but now it the celebrities on the arm of a professional ballroom dancer trying to show they don’t have two left feet!
  5. Celebrity Mr & Mrs (old show revamped)
The original show had married couples answering questions to see if they did indeed know a lot about each other, now it’s the same, but with celebrities, the only good thing is that it’s hosted by the delicious Phillip Schofield (@schofe), oh and Fern Britton.

So there you have five of the shows I hate, there are more, but I thought you the readers could get involved and let me know the Celebrity Shows that you hate as well ;)

I am a huge fan of Big Brother, all though the last thing I want to see is a bunch of celebrities on the show, I would much rather see real people.

The problem with reality shows is the folks on them aren’t real people. They are just actors and models trying to get their face on TV.

Just like that chick that messed around with a show producer, the story I was pushed to boost ratings and to launch her career in smut.

Oh well TV is what it is…the boob tube! :)

I agree about TV been a Boob Tube ;) Thank heavens for shows like Bones, Stargate and The Simpsons ;)

      • OMG! I’m not too sure about Bones, one evening like last week or the week before I had my TV on the Bones channel and in a matter of like 30 seconds I saw a man get shot, his hand cut off then he was run over by a car and then a cat ate his face off. Talk about desensitizing society via television. I think all that gratuitous body mutilation is totally uncalled for.

I think that is why most of the time I watch ABC, HGTV and the Food Network LOL :)

You guys are overloaded with celebrity shows! One of my clients from my day job is on your side of the pond. He told me a while ago that just about every celebrity from A-List to F-List has a show or is on one.

I really and stand these directed shows in which at one point they always have a fight or something like that just to make the audience more interested. If I want to relax or laugh at something I prefer to listen to some good music or watch a nice piece of comedy, but not these stupid shows.

To me, “celebrity reality” means that’s another celebrity with a dead or dying career.
