Now I have been using EntreCard for a long time now and I must be one of the few “Droppers” that actually visits a site, stays for a while and even leaves a comment if the posts interest me, but the problem is those “Droppers” that speed drop!
The trouble with speed droppers is that they land on your site hit drop and then bugger off! Which is not really good for your blogs bounce rate, ok, I may be sending this right over people heads right now, so I would recommend reading the Wiki about Bounce Rate to find out what it is, but to cut a story short, bounce rate is the amount of time a visitor stays on your blog before moving onto another site etc.
The aim is for you to try to analyze and reduce your Bounce rate, but with EntreCard dropping this is a hard task, due to the problem with speed droppers, there is not much you can do about the EntreCard droppers that just drop and run, but there are ways to improve Bouce Rate with other visitors, so it’s a matter of a little work to get a better Bounce Rate for your blog.
So the question is will a bad Bounce Rate affect your Google search ranking etc? Well some say yes and some say no, so I’m too sure myself, but it is a thought that you have to take with you when blogging or even building your home page on your website, will the content cause your viewer to stay or just shoot straight to another website, before giving you blog/site a chance.
I personally am considering the thoughts that EntreCard is damaging my Bouce Rate and overall search engine rankings, but then again, it helps my Google Advertising with hits etc, so I’m 50/50 at the moment, it’s a “time will tell” situation, so I think I may wait to see how the next Google Page Rank goes and how the searches are coming in before I do anything major..

This is a very interesting problem and one I have wondered about too, being I am with Entrecard. I will keep track of what you think are your findings, I will be very interested to see the results.

Thanks for commenting Sandy, I’ll certainly checking my stats over the next few weeks or so to see what visitors are doing, I know most are from EntreCard, but may be interaction from visitors would help a lot!

I did an old post about this, when you first join entrecard you will see your bounce rate climb, dragonblogger had a bounce rate as high as 93% at its worst, but that tapered off, and I still do 300 drops per day and my bounce rate is now between 2 and 3%.
You will find that many of your quick droppers will stay to actually read if they like your blog, or you will find an audience to eventually balance out the quick droppers.
Note: My other blogs have 80% bounce rates from entrecard, since that is generally what you can expect. Audience will come and stay if content is good though.
Your blog has good content, so don’t worry if bounce rate spikes for a few months.

I guess it is inevitable that the bounce rate would be pretty high with EC, especially when we have a lot of speed droppers. However, as Dragon Blogger said, what I hope is to eventually get a steady stream of readers that are interested to read the content and hopefully it will balance out.

As I mentioned to Dragon Blogger, I’ll be keeping my blog interesting and I always revisit my commentators blogs for a read
I think all Entrecarders are facing this problem. Unless, Graham gives out the rules like we need to visit 2 page before able to drop, then we will get 0 % bounce rate which is impossible. At least we will be able to sell some credits back to EC soon. That is another plus point to look at. Good luck for your page rank dear. Any tips on how you manage to get high number of twitter followers?

Hi there, I’m in the process of writing a post on how to boost Twitter followers, should be up before the weekend
I know the feeling, but I found in my own personal experiance that after visiting the same site a month in a row I start to actually read their blog. It doesn’t always guarantee that you will have readers for every post, but entrecard definitely is a great way to get traffic

Entrecard also has its advantages. I am willing to have my bounce rate suffer for a little if it results in more traffic referrals.
Entrecard increases your bounce rate, regardless of what Graham may try to do to circumvent it. When I was with EC, my bounce rate was 93%+++. Since I’ve quit EC, my bounce rate is down over 10% and still dropping.
The problem is there are too many blogs that just game the system.
Plus, that time you spend dropping is better spent writing IMO.
