Don’t lose out on comments when using Blogger!
Posted by Karen in blogging, tags: blogger, blogging, blogs, OpenID, Website SEONow I’ve been to quite a few Blogger accounts to comment on, but, have found that a lot of bloggers using Blogger only allow Blogger users or OpenID to add a comment to their blogs, this IS bad!
You are loosing comments on your blogs by not allowing other users to add a comment, I know several people who said to me, I can’t leave a comment, because I haven’t got a Blogger account or an OpenID account.
So my recommendation is to all those using Blogger for your blogs is to go to your control panel, select comments in your settings and change to the option of “Anyone” and if you are worried about bad comments coming through, just set on your word verification and your comment moderation options.
You will notice that after a while and if your post is of some interest you will start getting more comments on your blog.
So please don’t loose out on comments on your blogs follow the simple steps above and open your comments up to a wider range of readers, we all like to comment and don’t like it when we try to make the effort and get stopped doing so..

Thanks for the tip
It is something that I had overlooked and have adjusted to ‘anyone’ now. It has happened to me when I have gone to other blogs but didn’t think about it on mine… hmmm

@Ivs: I’ve given up a few times on some blogs that don’t have the option, nice to see that your blog uses the new Blogger commenting system

Excellent tip!
Blogger is doing something to my comments anyway. Once every couple of weeks, someone tells me that they can’t comment on my blog at all. *sigh*
If I knew how to personalize my blog on Wordpress, I’d have switched a long time ago.

Hi Angelika, I must admit that I have tried to comment a few times on your blog and been asked to confirm the captcha, only to find there isn’t one, but I do comment when I can
Setting up Wordpress on your own domain is easy, and there are a lot of themes out these days that are customizable, so it may be worth moving sooner or later

Hi Dave, glad I could be of some help

I find that some blogger blogs don’t allow the Name/Url commenting, which is also bad since not everyone wants to post a comment using Google account and definitely not OpenID or anonymous.

This is the problem, most of us prefer the Name/Url option for commenting and it does take away a lot of potential comments if it’s not an option.

I’ve followed the link to comment on quite a few Blogger blogs to discover only Google account or OpenID are allowed. I have two Google accounts and I’m rarely signed into the one linked to my blogs, so I just give up.

Hi John, if you know any bloggers using Blogger blogs then point them here and tell them why they could be losing a mass of comments

Thanks. Did you mean to say lose instead of loose?
