So here we go, a few reasons why I enjoy blogging Meeting new on-line friends via the comments and other blogs. Learning new things from those that comment. Getting the opportunity to grab some amazing freebies to review. Having fun when creating humorous posts Having a laugh at some of the feeble attempts of spamming my blog So why do you enjoy blogging and is it something you thought you would enjoy when your first started or is it something that you never expected? I agree that the spammers are really funny sometimes. I like blogging because it is an easy means to make money. I just plain enjoy writing. I like blogging because of the sense of community I get when connecting with other people. I am a people person. Sometimes I spend all day without talking to anyone in the outside world. Blogging helps me keep my sanity. Or, maybe not…….. When I started blogging, maybe a year ago, I had no idea I would write more than a few posts. My friend, @ileane, encouraged me to do so since I claimed to be a writer. She has always been what she is in cyber – helpful and supportive. She thought if I started a blog, it would get me in the flow and habit of writing. I think when she noticed I wasn’t taking advantage of all that it had to offer she decided to SHOW me how. Having a strong online presence is getting more and more important in these days of social media and internet marketing. I’m actually applying for a job where all I would do is blog and use Twitter, things I do now! LOL Other than that, just having an outlook to express myself. When I start making money (notice I said when, not if), that will be nice too. Until then I’m just crunching out the posts. I also love all the wonderful people I have been meeting online. I remember the first time I blogged on Lincoln, the first time I wrote on Dickinson. I had a fairly sizeable audience of other bloggers, and they started extending that sort of analysis to a bunch of other texts. One even put together a series of posts on a short story by Melville. That was then, though (early 2006). I’ve always been a little argumentative and my blog lets me go into a realm that would just be rude to comment elsewhere unless that’s what they were looking for. Blogging like I’m doing here, commenting, lets me keep in touch with friends, make new ones, learn new things and bring my mindset back to reality. I’ve been out of it for months, but I guess my biggest reason for blogging in general is because I enjoy the since of community. Unlike forums, which I like as well, blogging lets us see each other on sites all over the net. It sounds silly but it’s like running into old friends in a coffee shop or club. It’s just nice to see friends everywhere as well as meeting new ones. I know most of the names above and have visited each other’s blogs. (Most knew me as ExtremeEzine but I sold that site) Brian D. But I notice I enjoy tweaking my blog more than adding content to it.. lol I guess I’ll always be a designer by heart.
