EntreCard has even more changes for droppers!
Posted by Karen in blogging, entrecard, tags: blogging, entrecard
It seems that since EntreCard has been taken over there has been some changes made, first of all was the announcement that the paid ads were going, woo hoo, good news there, now they have just announced that they are to update the way users receive credits, this latest change will affect those that are dropping or been dropped on.
What usually happens is when someone drops on your EntreCard you receive one EC and the dropper also receives one EC, great for both parties then, yes, up until now!
We have noticed that the total number of Entrecard credits in the system has grown rapidly. This has been due to the fact that more credits are being created than credits are leaving the system. If this inflation continues, Entrecard credits will be worth less and less. To ensure a stable credit economy and reduce the outstanding credits, Entrecard will no longer give Entrecard credits to the person receiving a drop. In other words, instead of awarding 2 credits for each drop (one to the dropper and one to the blog site owner), only 1 credit will be given to the dropper. This change will be effective September 1, 2009 and will last until further notice.
So will this affect drops on your EntreCard, maybe it will, maybe it won’t, but it will certainly affect the amount of ECs that you can earn, everytime someone drops on your EntreCard you will NOT get any credits, so from September your EC earnings will half.
I suppose only time will tell, to see how this all goes…

I suppose it means advertising prices will drop (a good thing). People will be less willing / less able to pay high prices for ads. This’ll cause less ec to be removed by tax, so the change won’t be as effective as expected.
If you run a big ad campaign, you’ll no longer earn ec from all the additional visitors you generate.

Hello,
wrote about this topic, too. I guess there will be a shift to the more active members because only these members will be rewarded now.
The members who had this sentence “Just for the view” have to get active now, otherwise they can’t advertise anymore.
The advertising prices will slightly go down in September as there are enough ECs in each ones account at the moment (due to the stop of the CashOut program in July). After these ECs are spent, the advertising prices have to drop or let’s say will be just the half price from now. At the moment i get around 850 ECs after the change it will be only 550 EC (or less depending on the price of the ad).
I guess it will benefit the smaller blogs because their advertising price will go up and the price of the TOP 30 blogs will go down!
In case someone needs some EC in the next month… just join our contest. There you can win weekly several thousand ECs + 5$!

It worked amazing for blogengagel. Seeing bloggers are my target market I was getting an amazing conversion from their service. Buying credits use to be a huge pain and has improved so much.

Not sure I totally get this whole EntreCard thing, but I understand now it’s about “dropping” something on the EntreCard banner on the website you are visiting, and then both of you used to receive a credit – which can be used to purchase ad place on other sites, right?

I don’t get time to drop a lot, lucky if I manage half dozen a day. So looks like this will push me out of the “game” now…

I’ve been debating dropping entrecard, not because of this but because, it really is just too time consuming to spend the amount of time to go dropping. Sure it’s increased my traffic, but for me, I haven’t seen a benefit more than just more visitors in my stats. That’s always nice, but I’ve had better results with other methods of generating traffic that are more passive.

It is not true that Paid Ads have stopped. I had one in my ques for all 3 of my blogs earlier this week. Another blogger did a screen print on the post as proof.

Well, my credits will be dropping drastically because I don’t drop like I used to.
Like when I used to try to get 300 drops per day, LOL.

I’m not really sure how to react on this change in dropping credits but one thing’s for sure: I will be earning a lot less credits.

The changes do seem to be promising; I mean if they better the community then that cant be bad.
Depending on how it carrys on to evolve I may be putting the widget back on soon.

I’m going to wait and see how it affects everything. If it brings the prices down then you don’t need as many ECs to buy adverts. We’ll see.
Have a terrific day and weekend.

It would be nice if advert costs were reduced, but only time will tell

I am very hesitant to use EC at first but now I might consider it using on my newly built blog. Well good thing that they make more improvements on their system.
