How To Find Out Who Unfollowed You on Twitter

I’ve been asked many a time by friends about followers on Twitter and how to find out who has unfollowed you, so I thought it was about time I brought you another Twitter Tips post on one of the ways you can find out.

Twitter BirdBefore I get on to the Twitter Website, please remember, that with any Twitter Tools that you use with Twitter do not over do it, do not try to increase your Twitter followers too quickly or unfollow on Twitter erratically as Twitter will most probably see this as you being aggressive and mark you either as a spammer or even ban your account!

Ok now that’s out-of-the-way, I’ll get on with it.

“How to know who blocked or unfollowed me on twitter”

It’s all very well with you using websites such as ReFollow to find new Twitter followers and even UnTweeps to find out those that haven’t tweeted in a while, but sometimes you may want to just find out those that are no longer following you back, I don’t just mean those that you have followed and they are not following, I mean those that have followed you and have stopped.

One of the easiest ways I’ve found for doing this is to use a website called “who.unfollowed.me” which coincidently is the URL of the website, so easy to remember ;)

Using Who Unfollowed Me To Find Your Twitter Unfollowers

The site is simple to use, just sign in with Twitter via Oauth and then your off. Once logged in you can do the following tasks. You can manually check who has unfollowed you every 15 minutes, call out your unfollowers for unfollowing you, view people you are following that are not following you back and view a 7 day unfollower history.

Who Unfollowed me

Once you have checked who is not following you back on Twitter, you can then unfollow them, if you want to, or even post a tweet saying that tweeter isn’t following you any more.

There is nothing extravagant about who.unfollow.me but it’s simple and that’s all that is needed, no flash flying around, no searching around the site to do things, everything is on one page and easy to click, so this is certainly one of those Twitter tools that I use and recommend, but as I mentioned earlier, do not abuse the system, or it may be banned!

It’s funny you write about this. Last week I stopped following some guy who was RT every single @ reply he was getting along with his response. I don’t want to see that in my timeline. I will go to your page and look if feeling nosy. Anyways he used this site and apparently after you find out who unfollowed you, there is a call out feature that tweets along the lines of “@ygndblog unfollowed me I don’t know why but it’s her loss” So I was I proceeded to tell this guy exactly WHY I unfollowed him and I won’t follow him back. He still had the choice whether or not to use that tweet feature. This is a cool tool to use but some people just deserved to be unfollowed. Nice post and Congrats again in regards to BE.

Ah Ha a use for the call out feature ;) It is very annoying when tweeters jam up our time lines, I hope you blocked him as well ;) Thanks for the congrats for BE, much appreciated ;)

The feature which allows you to say who unfollowed you is kind of lame from my opinion. It’s something like saying “Hey, why aren’t you following me anymore?” and shows the fact that you are kind of desperate :D

I used to track who unfollowed me but now don’t really pay much attention. There are too many people following and unfollowing for me to be concerned with those statistics and I think they are more beneficial to users who have only a thousand or less followers.

Just hope you girls don’t unfollow me :P
A few months ago I stopped all that auto follow back and unfollowed
7000 people in one day and then refollowed bloggers COOL ONES :P
I have stayed at around 4700 followers they must all be bots because
they don’t seem to mind what I say as they never say anything to me :)
    The internet is weird :)

Thanks for the advice Karen. I think this might give me an insight to why anyone would want to unfollow me, because for the life of me I can’t imagine why that would happen. I signed up and I’ll check back in a week or two. Nice site.

Thanks for reminding the service. People talk about getting lots of followers and following few ones only to improve the value of twitter profile. I guess it will be good for those who wish to earn from twitter.

I hardly notice who follows and who unfollows. Moreover tracking every individual will be too hard to manage. Better the trends – if they are increasing, it is good and if they are decresing, we should think – did I over did it?

I appreciate this information. I used to try and build a good following. Now I know many have used and abused it just like many social websites. True to a certain point that I “really” don’t care as the few comments before me, but true also that this is a very useful and unique tool for Twitter. I do protest those who beg for me to follow, then sometime later on un-followed me, it’s uncool, so I did use this tool today – and love it! Thanks so much. True again that it’s great for small time Twitter user as myself.

When someone unfollows you, qwitter sends you an email message saying who unfollowed you and what tweet did you post before they unfollowed you. All you need to do is, sign up. Enter your twitter username and email address.TwitDiff provides e-mail and RSS notification for accounts unsubscribing from your tweets.TwittaQuitta is by far the best. I used almost all of them. Qwitter, Goodbybuddy, unfollowr and TwittaQuitta. Twitta Quitta sends you an email once a day only when someone unfollowed you.

Great job Karen. Actually I like social media and it’s plugin connects me much better with targeting visitors and let them know you care. I got the idea really impressive. I guess it’s really important to know that all of us. Thanks!
