As some of you may have read an earlier post here on my blog for the stats for July, I thought I would bring a smile to those that enjoy stopping by and making the effort to leave well written and interesting comments.
So this month, I’m offering a free months Ad spot here on Blazing Minds for the top commentator, at the end of August, the Top commentator will get a free 125×125 Ad on the sidebar of Blazing Minds.
Please please remember, that well written comments are the best to write here on Blazing Minds and things such as “Good Blog”, “Great Blog, added you to my reader” or anything that is similar or deemed to be a spam or trash comment will NOT be accepted, so keep that in mind when you are posting a comment, also please try to follow the Blazing Minds comment policy to help you with writing a good comment.
So good luck and happy commenting

It could be your ad, you just never know
Yeah, it’s that term “contest’ that has me thinking. This shouldn’t be a contest in any sense – as much as possible, people should want to comment appropriately, and you really want benefits to be distributed among as many commentators as possible.
Another blog I’m commenting at rewarded the top commentator simply with a post promoting their content. It was terrible, since that top commentator had written nothing but “good job” 99% of the time. But I don’t know how much better it would have been if the comments were even slightly better. Does it really matter that a blog has thousands of comments?
I’m all for giving the top commentator something special. But I’m not aiming for that ad space, not in the least. If we all start aiming for that as a prize, even without “good job” and the like the comments here will become worse than worthless. Thoughtlessness takes many forms online.

Best of luck to all participants – you’ll not be seeing me in this competition as I’m going on vacation for some time in August and thus I will not have time to read too many blog posts

The current running for the top commentators is on the home page of the blog, they currently get a DoFollow from there

Great timing on my part, lol, but I do apologize for my absence of late.
Apparently during my last round of blog subscription cleansing, I totally missed resubscribing to you.
Oops. Taken care of now.

Great idea Karen. Running a monthly-resetting top commentators widget is also a great way to increase interaction with your readers.

Karen,
Be careful what you wish for. You might just unleash a major flood of comments.
Obviously that is your goal. I intend to take you up on the offer. I shall re-visit some of the posts I had read but not commented on. I am considering installing the top commentators plugin also.

I think your contest is a great idea as long as you police it well. And as someone who has already managed to do the keyword luv thing wrong on your blog I’m sure you will!
It gives an incentive to readers beyond simply reading entertaining posts. As most people nowadays visit multiple blogs daily, sometimes, they just have to skip a few due to time constraints. I mean family demands you leave the computer occasionally – well, mine do!
You’re ensuring that your blog is much less likely to be the one skipped.
It will encourage new readers and whilst they may have originally come with the idea of making a good comment in exchange for a link, some of them are going to get hooked on your entertaining style. So ultimately you will increase your readership.

Now that’s what i call giving your readers and commentators some love. I recently chose a template for my blogger site thta looks like a newspaper page and had a lot of sections to be filled by things like adds, links and even a featured section. Considering my blog is new and I only have a few articles posted, it was kinda hard to fill n all these sections without repeating the same articles over and over.
Instead I chose to feature articles I found on other blogs as a way to help others get what i consider to be worth reading articles noticed. There are certain things I may think are interesting reads but there are things that I believe are must reads. Things that just might make a difference in making this world a better place. i figured these deserve to be featured on my featured section. I already have enough ways to feature my own stuff on my blog.
This is very cool of you to do. 2 thumbs up from me.

Great idea for a contest – but that has already been said, so I guess I’ll just say “Good Blog” and be that guy. :p I’ve fallen out of the blogging habit recently but I’m trying to get back on the ‘ol horse so maybe you’ll see me around here more than once this month.
