Just a quick post here really as I have been very busy this past week, and yes it is all going to be based around this image of my Golden Retriever that was taken the other day. (Apologies for the blurriness of the picture it was my attempt of getting me out of the image).

Now I don’t agree with dressing up pets in crazy outfits (except perhaps on Halloween) but this, I thought was pretty funny and it comes just after my dog had returned from a vet visit, which I know from a recent post, that Karen knows just how expensive and stressful they can be for the owner as well as the pets themselves.

It was okay though as it turned out that he had just a small skin irritation which is apparently very common amongst the retrievers and very low costing to me.

However he had been given some pretty nasty smelling cream at the vets which he didn’t like at all and coming home must have felt like a major relief to him which is why you see him looking very happy in a pair of 3D glasses which I swear I didn’t steal from a cinema.

So as I said just a quick one, have you had any stressful and costly experiences with your pets in the past, comment and let me know, I am very much interested in hearing about them.

My girlfriend’s dog ended up getting something that was very very costly and she couldn’t afford it so she had to give him up. It was a rough couple weeks to say the least.

We’ve come to believe our dog is part cat. First, she gets Parvo from the pound. Vet says it doesn’t look too good, but she pulls through. YAY! Then she cuts her paw and leaves bloody paw prints all over the carpet, car, etc. This is Super Bowl Sunday [nighttime no less]. Emergency Vet, here we come. She’s all better. YAY Then a year later she is hit by a car. It’s the weekend, so back to the Emergency Vet. She is patched up and becomes a house dog. I think this time she is the one saying YAY – as she is a spoiled puppy indeed!

Great picture and so glad everything worked out just fine.

Hmm…It seems that even dogs look bright when they are wearing glasses :D Did he enjoyed the movie in 3D? :)

I have 2 cats that are very cute and they were abandoned when I found them and now both have a home. I love animals a lot and I feel so bad when I see an animal getting hurt, but the sad truth is that we can’t save them all.

Vet care like health care is becoming increasingly more costly. That being said I feed my dogs the best food (mix it up… and don’t believe the big brands “organic” claims), get plenty of exercise and make sure to not leave toxic things around for them to eat…… after all I have a Lab. Lab’s eat anything.

And yes, she has eaten things like whole socks, that luckily came out whole… or THAT would have been a costly surgery.

Lesson: smelly socks go in the laundry immediately, not on the floor :)

Wag for everyone and have fun with your dogs today :)

It’s funny you should mention socks actually because my dog as a puppy used to pinch socks of radiators and run around with them for ages. He now loves to steal shoes when people are out and he hides them in his bed.

    Hi Ryan,
Thankfully i haven’t had any serious expenses with my golden retrievers, but when i was growing up both of the jack russell’s my parents had ended up going in for surgeries for ‘lumps’ in their bellies – some form of cancer apparently. Jade lived until she was 18 and Pepsi lived until she was 17, so both lived well past expectations. Our dogs were treated like family and as long as they weren’t suffering my parents were happy to pay the costs to keep them healthy.
