Hitman: Agent 47 [Review]

I have to say that I’ve not played the video game that HITMAN: AGENT 47 is based on, but I did see the movie Hitman that had Timothy Olyphant in the role of Agent 47, totally enjoyed that one and was looking forward to this reboot of the movie.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck.

He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence.

His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own.

Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe. (c) Fox

Hitman: Agent 47

Sadly Hitman: Agent 47 falls flat, yes it has some long fight sequences and car chases, but the film just doesn’t have that get up and go that you would expect from the material available.

I was hoping that the film would be a sequel to the 2007 movie, sadly there is not much excitement through the film, even the fight sequences seem a little lacklustre and at times I thought I was watching a car commercial as the bright red Audi races along with a long chase sequence, look out for the vanishing bullet holes!

Hitman Agent 47 (Rupert Friend)

Rupert Friend is nicely cast as Agent 47, a part which was mentioned some time back to be going to Paul Walker before his untimely death.

Hitman: Agent 47 seems to be a bit of a mess, I did like Zachary Quinto as “John Smith”, but he even seemed to be lost when it came to the script.

The film is probably going to be one for the fans of the video game, even though I do believe there are many changes compared to the video games.

It’s certainly a film that is silly, with a few memorable set action pieces, but sadly it could have been so much better.

Hitman: Agent 47 is showing now at the Scala Cinema in Prestatyn.
