The other day while reading through my RSS feeds on Feedly I came across a post at Potpolitics titled ”What is the best toolbar for your blog?”, now most of you that visit my blog will now that I have used the Wibiya Toolbar and though it is quite good and fairly fast to load, after reading John’s post I decided to give the Skysa Toolbar a shot and boy am I glad I did.

Not only is it a tad faster than the previous toolbar that was installed on Blazing Minds, but it allows you to make a little money back on it, yes you read that right, each time someone follows the link here on my blog and installed the toolbar I get $1 and then I think , if I’m right, my good friend John over at Potpolitics gets $0.25, anyway here’s a breakdown of the tier system etc that Skysa use.

Affiliate Link Clicks 37
Signups 0
Activated Bars 0 X $1.00 = $0.00

Tier 2 Activated 0 X $0.25 = $0.00
Your Credit Balance $0.00

Having a toolbar on your blog can improve the bounce rate on your blog as people stay a little longer to click on the option on your toolbar, such as adding ReTweet, Digg, FaceBook and share buttons will allows your readers to click on these to share your site around the internet, also having an announcement box on your toolbar will bring special updates etc to your readers when they visit your blog or website.

So there you have it, if you want a useful toolbar for your blog that will run on WordPress, Blogger, Spruz, Ning and any other site where you can ad HTML then give the Skysa Toolbar a go, just follow my little linky to get your toolbar at http://www.skysabar.com/blazingminds.

Big thanks to John at Potpolitics for leading me on to this groovy toolbar ;)

  1. I am not convinced about toolbars, find them a tad distracting but perhaps they’ll grow on me!

Making money from a toolbar is something unique and i have seen something similar for counduit toolbars and they have worked well for me, but they didn’t earn me much money

  4. Karen, this time I think I’m signed up under you. Is there a way we can check? I’m pretty sure I used your toolbar to register.

Well, I’m trying on for size and in a few days I’ll check my stats to see how things are going.

Man oh man, John puts something up and it’s on like the next 20 blogs in my reader, get it John! However in the case of the toolbar, I hate them and have for a long time. I would love to see what that thing generates based on 50k uniques a month vs what it ads in distraction and page load.

Now don’t get me wrong it’s a nice little incentive for bloggers, as a surfer though I am really curious to just how often a general surfer is clicking anything on there. The pop up alone is enough to make many people exit stage left, me typically being one of those people. Of course I like Blazing Minds so it’s different, but I typically remove anything that offers a timed console or flash console, doesn’t matter if it’s lightbox or not.

This looks like a great tool. I just sign up for Wibiya and its ok as you said. I think I will have to look into this bar.

I find toolbars to be scammy in nature. Their common business model is to override affiliate cookies with their own, thus stealing from webmasters who work hard to generate affiliate income. Since I’m an affiliate, I’ll never install one, nor will I suggest one to my visitors.
