From the producers of Love Actually and Bridget Jones’ Diary comes a new Rom Com titled I Give It A Year, starring Anna Farris, Steven Merchant, Mini Driver and Rafe Spall, the film is trying to bring those audiences that enjoyed the above mentioned films back in to the cinemas.

Even though Love Actually and Bridget Jones’ Diary did very well in the cinemas and on DVD upon their releases, it may seem that I Give It A Year, may fall upon the side of the road with its not so funny humor and a very, very annoying Steven Merchant.
I Give It A Year or a Month!
So maybe in its attempt to bring in some rather dry humor to the Rom Com, I Give It A Year doesn’t really have those massive amounts of comedy that we had with Bridget Jones’ Diary, yes there are some funny moments, but not anything that will stick in your mind after leaving the film.
The characters really don’t have an appeal that you want to care about, they do seem quite one-dimensional, even at the best mans speech you feel that they have clutched at the bottom of the unfunny barrel to find gags for the speech, which aren’t funny in the slightest, just completely cringe worthy.
What could have been a funny British Rom Com has sadly turned out in to trying to bring in an audience that may have seen some of the earlier work by the producers and thought “Now this is going to be a good one”, but sadly they will be disappointed throughout the film that always points to the obvious and plods along without a care in the world for the movie going audience.

Overall Thoughts For I Give It A Year
Predictable, not really funny, maybe good for fans of Anna Farris or Steven Merchant, but not really my choice in movie going entertainment.

Oh no, I have to admit, I suspected as much and didn’t think it was going to be any good. Oh well, I’ll give it a miss then. There are too many good films out right now to bother with stuff like this. And really, what ever made Anna Farris think rom com was the right genre for her?
It is a shame Mandy, as the film did have the potential to be hysterically funny, but it just misses the mark in so many places
