Director of Indie Favourite Third Contact Masterminds Scifi Web Series BodyDouble films halfway through their crowd funding campaign for scifi series Kosmos.
From the writer/director of the mindbending surreal crowd funded hit Third Contact comes web-based, 6 webisode scifi thriller KOSMOS.
After 18 months raising distribution funds for his debut feature using popular platforms kickstarter.com and indiegogo.com, Si Horrocks is masterminding a new way of developing and releasing his next project online.
“Kosmos will be a gripping mystery thriller. It’s a moody but fastpaced scifi, more about ideas than future technology, although there will be some. It’s a project where we will invite people to get involved and help us create the show.” says Horrocks
“I’ve created a dramatic concept on an epic scale. The story world is huge but starts small, so there is endless space for the series to grow into and many mysteries to explore. But it will be up to online scifi fans to decide if the show has a future.”
Horrocks’ first film was described as “some kind of a masterpiece” by award winning critic Thomas Rothschild and is edging towards cult status all with no crew and nonprofessional equipment. His next project is halfway through it’s campaign on popular crowdfunding platform kickstarter and is off to a great start.
Describing the story, Horrocks says: “I wrote Kosmos to be a gripping thriller, set in the a “near future”, buzzing metropolis? a city that never sleeps. Technology is in some ways advanced (reading peoples’ minds is already an accepted science).
“At it’s heart, it’s about one man’s refusal to let go of the woman he loves. But on a grander scale, the story peers out into the vast, bottomless well of space and searches for clues? for answers to the deeper mysteries lurking just outside our limited understanding.”
With musician Jeff Dahlgren, who hasn’t acted since his lead role in cult romantic thriller Giorgino in 1994, coming out of retirement to play the lead and Farscape’s Virginia Hey also joining the cast, there is already a growing buzz among the online scifi community.
