Can You Make Your Friends Laugh? Here’s 3 Tricks…

Laughter is good for the heart, the soul and the body, and that’s a fact. But the problem is that not every one is funny. Chances are if you tell a joke and all you get is silence in return, you know how it feels; not being funny is no fun to any one.  If you want to improve your humor, you are going to have to do some work.

After all, just ask anyone who has ever worked in comedy and they will tell you the same thing; even with jokes, practice does make perfect. So if you want to fix your funny bone and ensure that you can have just as much of a good time as any one else, then read on below to find out how you can employ some easy tricks of the trade to make your friends laugh fit to burst.

Trick Number One: Be Confident

Man oh man is confidence ever the key! Confident jokes are funny jokes, even if they aren’t. Does that make sense? If it doesn’t, think of it this way; the joke is all in the delivery. If you are unsure of the joke that you are telling, why should any one else be sure enough to laugh at it? Your level of confidence dictates how funny your joke ends up being.

So if you want to be a hit, you have got to get in some practice becoming comfortable telling a joke. How? By not caring. Yes, it is that simple; not caring. Comedians do not care how silly they might look because it is all in the name of the game. You tell a joke, you should not care how silly it makes you look; you should deliver the goods as you would anything else.

Try This: Tell a joke to your mirror. If the guy looking back at you looks timid, then you need to keep working on your delivery.

Trick Number Two: Deliver the Zinger

Your punch line is the climax of the joke, it is the apex of the story you have told and it should explode forth from you with enough power to make it recognized. Your punch line should not be delivery in a whisper; it should not be softly spoken.

Your punch line dictates whether or not your friends are even going to laugh. You could have all the chuckles in the world with a great lead up, but your friends are going to feel a bit let down if you get to the punch line and it is an anticlimactic stinker.

Try This: Deliver your punch line to your self, and record it. The only way to ensure you deliver it right is to hear yourself do it, over and over and over again.

Trick Number Three: Diversify Yourself

A one trick pony gets pretty stale pretty fast. Ever wonder why the insult comic had no friends? Because people got fed up being insulted all the time. No, that wasn’t the joke, but if your jokes always has a victim among your friends, you are going to quickly wear out your welcome and find yourself without an audience fast.

How do you avoid becoming the one joke guy? By working on different kinds of jokes. Try  a joke that is witty and clever rather than crass and crude. Diversify your joke telling and you will keep your friends in stitches all night long.

Try This: Look online for different types of jokes and study, study, study them!
