In this post, I want to show you the 3 easy ways to optimize hard drive performance and enjoy using your PC. All the tips presented here are not for computer geeks; a newbie could try them and see how it works.

I discovered recently that you need to speed up your PC’s performance if you’re serious about blogging, social media networking, graphic designs and the like. Whatever business you are doing requires fast loading systems.

Nothing phenomenal though, but enhancing hard disk performance can affect your overall efforts on the long-run.

As promised, take a look at the three easy ways to make PC perform at relatively great point, without endangering your files, folders and system properties.

1. Avoid Dusty Environment

I didn’t know the effect of dusts on my hard drive until recently when my PC was having issues on the mother board.

If you live or stay around dusty environments, it’s good you avoid exposing your PC as such.
When you’re not working with your PC, shut it down and carefully safeguard it against dust. You can use a protective covering, like a cloth or Polythene Nylon. Protect your PC from external breeze that comes with dust and dirt.

It’s very much easy for dusts to penetrate your hard disk unknowingly. They’re mostly invisible form of natural substances and when you see them it, it’s an indication that the dust is extremely much around your vicinity.

The first rule to protect your PC hard drive is to keep it safe from dusty environment. If you want the #2 way, see the next line…

2. Install Powerul Antivirus software

As common as this rule of PC security and performance is, a lot of people do not have antivirus software installed on their PC. I don’t know how these persons will handle the numerous threats and malware lurking around, but make sure you’re not a prey to this.

And even if you have antivirus software, it should be updated constantly. I use Norton Antivirus on my system and when I first installed it, I was given 30 days trial period unless I activate. Unfortunately, a lot of people have not activated their antivirus protection and that’s left them with expired trial period.

This will not work to protect your PC against hackers, malware and phishing infiltrators. You need to harden your activities and protect your PC. As you do this, you’ll notice a higher level of performance for your PC, because every threat would’ve been eliminated. I recommend Norton, Eset Nod, BitDefender and Avast Antivirus.

3. Reduce Free E-book Downloads

Have you been downloading every free report and e-books out there? If so, you’re harming your hard drive. How many of these free reports have you used since you downloaded them. You’ve to realize that internet marketing is highly competitive. Every so-called guru out there is looking for means to capture your email address.

They want you on their email list and so, giving away free reports and e-books is the easiest way to catch hungry marketers and beginners.

But some of these reports and e-books are infected by Malware, dangerous scripts and virus. It’s your duty to protect your PC and free up some space. If you’ve more than 10 e-books on your hard drive, go ahead and delete as much as you can. Few is always better and would yield better rewards when implemented.

Hard Drive Performance Recap

There you’ve it, the three easy ways to improve PC performance, secure your computer against malware, virus and dangerous scripts. I hope you put them to work at home, office and on the go. See you at the top!

Not only us, the bloggers, but all want their system to speed up. You have some good points here. I would add a point#4 – Regularly de-fragment your disk drive. Then there are some registry tweaks you could perform in a Windows system to speed up the system. CCcleaner.exe is a good tool for the same.

I would add to thing about replacing your hard drive with a SSD (Solid State Disk) at least for the operating system and you will have all the speed that you need. Like Samuel said above, defragmenting your hard drive is a also useful.
