Well the guys have actually pulled it off and have hit the number one spot, which is awesome, not only have they toppled the X-Factor winner Joe McElderry from the top spot, but they have chalked up a Christmas number one record, you guys rock!!
A group based on Facebook called “RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE FOR CHRISTMAS NO.1” have asked fans to download the single “Killing in the Name” in a fight to get the X-factor winner away from the number one spot and almost 1 million fans have come to the call to help RATM hit the spot.
The FaceBook group has been so successful that Killing in the Name has sold around 500,000 copies compared to Joe McElderry who has sold around 450,000, so RATM now have a Christmas number one under their belt and ironically it’s their first number one single.
So I salute you guys and let’s all blast it out on our iPod, stereo and anywhere else we can play, but turn the volume down near the end, we wouldn’t want to upset our Grans now would we! Or would we, HELL YEAH!!!!
Rage Against The Machine / Zane Lowe vs. Simon Cowell / XFactor ****UNCENSORED!!!***

RATM getting to number one is a big f*** you to Cowell, and the x factor. People may say Sony are laughing all the way to the bank, cos both records are on their label, but at the end of the day, it’s all down to peoples choice. People who buy singles know where their money is going. I don’t refuse to buy a single by a band I like, just because a band I don’t like are signed to the same label.
This campaign was in no way a campaign about Joe. Nowhere in the x factor rules states that they have a god given right to the number one spot. At the end of the day, more people chose to buy RATM than Joe. If Joe was good and popular, then he should’ve won, hands down.
I think they should do it every year! It’s the only way I’d buy a single! Plus, digital downloads for as little as 29p is the way to go to see real music chart, bought by people with taste.
Finally, it didn’t matter who won x factor, the song would’ve automatically went to number one, regardless.

I like when bands use social media to win fans.
