Sometime back I mentioned that I was going to remove the EntreCard widget from my blog, so has it made any difference since removing the widget from Blazing Minds?

Well to put it simply, no!

I think it all boils down to the fact that since Blazing Minds has taken off more than I would have dreamed of and to those Guest Bloggers that have written some pretty amazing Guest Posts, the traffic hasn’t diminished at all and the traffic is still coming in strong from the various sources where Blazing Minds can be found such as the search engines, social networks etc.

So as long as you blog has taken off and is past the infant stage and has good followers, commentators that enjoy reading the blogs posts and those that are willing to either ReTweet your posts or spread them on other social networks, then that is probably the time start reducing widgets that are of no longer of any use on your blog.

Don’t get me wrong, EntreCard has brought to my attention some great blogs which I do still read, via my trusty RSS Reader, but as time has gone by, time is tight and dropping via the EntreCards was not on my list of top priorities.

It’s now down to blogging and keeping my readers interested in the article etc that are posted here on Blazing Minds, so shouts out to my Guest Bloggers, Commentators and those of you who are avid fans of the bizarre world of the Blazing Minds blog ;)

  1. I did remove both EC and CMFAds and didn’t notice any difference in my analytics two weeks later, both accounted for less than 1% of my blog traffic combined. That being said, I still have them on my two smaller blogs where they account for about 5% of my traffic.

This is great to know. I’ve been watching the reactions from several bloggers about Entrecard and I think you have summed it up nicely. I’m glad your blog has grown so nicely. You have great content and you work hard to keep this blog in tip top shape. Congrats on all of your success!

I also found that my traffic did not decrease, but my Alexa rank did. I don’t know if there is something that Alexa likes about EC, but that is all that I noticed. Traffic is steady and my bounce rate is down, so ditching EC was no big loss. The sites that get big traffic seem to be the ones that drop 300/day, and I was never that into it to spend that much time.

I left entrecard a long time ago, I think drive traffic by entrecard is not one convenient method and the traffic come from entrecard yeild high bouncing rate.

It’s interesting to see this with all the fuzz that Entrecard will increase your traffic. It has been proven again that quality content is what really makes the difference…

I’m thinking about removing it myself. I don’t drop anymore and I recently stopped advertising on other peoples blogs through it (racking up the EC credits), but I still get a few visits from people looking for blogs to campaign on… but yeah, I’m starting to get really agitated with the high bounce rate it brings. Cause I’ve been reading up on SEO and apparently the high bounce rate hurts me in search rankings -_- so I’m wondering if I remove it, will the click-and-leavers hits I’m getting now be compensated by the search engine traffic I might attain from better rankings? Hmm… I’ll give it a few more weeks. My blog is still an infant to me (few months) so I wanna milk entrecard for all the new readers I can get out of it ;p

If your blog is new, then “milk” EntreCard for everything you can get, but once your content starts to really take off and the search engines send more traffic then it’s time to call time of EntreCard ;)
