Welcome to another review here on my blog, this time I was recently sent some of the new North Face Hedgehog lightweight women’s speed hiking shoes to give my opinion on, a big thank you to @sylvied from FuelMyBlog and FitnessFootwear for this opportunity. This is part one of my review, with this been an introduction to the shoes and over the coming week I will be testing them out fully and giving my full opinion in part two of the review ;)

I was quite intrigued by the name of these shoes, the name Hedgehog, really got me thinking on what they would be like when I got them out of the box, but I had an inkling on why they might be called, Hedgehog.

So after opening the box, which is coincidently made from 75% recycled material, good for the environment a great start there then ;) I found these quite amazing looking shoes with what can only be described as quite sturdy, stylish and extremely comfortable and with a heck of a set of grips on the bottom, maybe that’s why they are called a Hedgehog!

As quoted on the info which came with the Hedgehog shoes they have an upper of Gore-Tex XCR waterproof, breathable membrane, should keep my feet from lack of oxygen ;) Abrasion-resistant, bomber synthetic nubuck and breathable sandwich-mesh upper, OK and a Gusseted tongue, hmmmm

The bottom of the Hedgehog is Compression-molded, lightweight EVA midsole. Injection-molded TPU shank plate. Heel X-202 air pod. Exclusive Vibram outsole, in other words, it’s strong, sturdy and has a heck of a grip ;)

So, I’m going to give these shoes a good bit of wear and tear over the this coming week and then I’ll be posting part two of this review on what I think of the shoes overall and how well they performed ;)

In the meantime why don’t out check out FitnessFootwear Blog for all the latest sports and outdoor shoes news, reviews and previews.

    Nice (and nice review)!

I wonder if I can get in on reviewing cars. Perhaps they’ll send me some to review! [grins]

Hey there, I was hoping to get out in them today, but the weather put a stop to that, it’s my day off work tomorrow, so weather permitting, I’ll be putting them through their paces then ;)

I look forward to your thoughts on them. I can’t seem to find a tennis shoe I really like. That is until I have broken them in and they are falling apart..then I have a hard time getting rid of them.

Can’t wait to hear about how these shoes hold up – they definitely look like hiker gear, that’s for sure. In fact, I wonder if part of the lightweight design comes from the actual shape of the shoe: it looks a lot like a running shoe, which is never a bad thing imo, although a lot of hikers are in danger of twisting their ankles on more treacherous paths.

I am wondering when they will invent the shoes that walk for you :D There are shoes that adapt after your foot, made of metal, shoes made of wood and I am sure that there won’t be long until we can send our shoes to work instead of us :D

Anyway, as usual you made a very nice review and congrats for you new shoes :)

  7. These shoes look like the perfect hiking shoes. NorthFace has always provided top quality in outdoor gear. You can’t go wrong with breathable, light weight, and waterproof.
