The Satellite Navigation device or “Sat Nav” as it is better known as has been in the cars of thousands of drivers for many years now and whilst it would seem some people think it is the perfect way to get from A to B there are others that would rather have partners holding up a map than install such a device in the car.
One of the big positives of purchasing a Sat Nav is that they are there so you do not have to keep stopping to look at a normal map. Back in the day where you had to do this you could be adding up to another half hour onto your journey if you had to keep pulling over. Of course another problem was that some people would not stop to look at the map resulting in them not looking at what they were doing which resulted in many accidents on the roads.
The Sat Nav also helps arguments in the car that occur when you have a partner map reading and leading you in the wrong direction. This seems to happen a lot when people are travelling around on vacation and the last thing you want is to argue over something like this and ruin the trip for everyone. A Sat Nav will lead you in the right direction and even if something does go wrong at least you cannot blame one another.
The handy gadget is also very important for people travelling all over the world in their cars. Many of the Sat Navs out on the market now will not only be able to recognise roads in your own country but also across the world too making it easier for business/road trips in the car. We all know how difficult it is asking for directions, let alone in a foreign language!
There have been many reports that suggest that the Sat Nav is actually worse than reading a map because it causes more accidents. This comes from the incidents of people turning into one way junctions, driving off the edge of cliffs and crashing because they were too busy looking at the screen.
The fact is that although these accidents do sound a bit far-fetched they do happen because people don’t give them enough attention. For example surely you would notice if you were about to drive off a cliff but people just put too much faith in technology.
In the end it is up to you whether you choose to purchase a Sat Nav or not, they are helpful but like all other pieces of technology they do sometimes go wrong and this is something to be aware of.
