How To Select All Your Facebook Friends When Inviting Them to a Page or Group etc

LATEST UPDATE: It seems that Facebook has made some updates to the way that you can select friends and now the original bookmarklet doesn’t seem to work 100%. But thanks to a comment from Rakib and pointing me on the direction of another method which you can find here.

But my favourite method is by using a handy Facebook Invite All Chrome extension that is also mentioned on the post, which is the perfect way of having the option to “toggle all” your FaceBook friends ;)

This post is an updated version of the original, I’ve updated it to now include a FaceBook Friend Select Bookmarklet to make it easier for you to use..

There comes a time when we all want to select all our friends on Facebook for some reason or another either to invite then to a page, group or something else and if you have loads of friends, it can take forever to click each one to select them, so, if you do want to select all your friends in FaceBook in one go then follow these simple instructions to set you on your way.

  1. Drag this to your browser toolbar to get you started. FaceBook Friend Select
  2. When you are on your Event, Group or page and click “Invite People”.
  3. When the desired page has loaded you will see a list of your friends, but there is no way of selecting all your friends to get invites.
  4. Simply click on the FaceBook Friend Select Bookmarklet and after a few seconds, depending on how many friends you have, they will all be selected..
  5. Now you should see that all your friends have been selected, if they haven’t and only a few have, then this usually means that you can only add x amount of friends at a time.

    What’s also great about this is the shading of the friend’s name if a request was followed through on by your friends.

    This would have been helpful about 2 weeks ago when inviting about 700 people to a fan page. Not to mention I had to invite 25 at a time because if I selected all 700 manually it was too much. I learned my lesson though. DEFINITELY using this.

    I believe something is wrong here and that’s why its not working.. I believe Since you do not use any Code tag, that’s why few characters are formatted… Try pastebin or similar service and plz recheck the codes. Thanks again and this will be really handy

    I’m saying that because active bloggers, despite that they bookmark each and every usefull stuff, forget about it or lose it somewhere, or delete that certain bookmark by mistake..

    Very very handy! Always annoying when you have to manually select everyone! Half way down the line I just get bored with it and go off to do something else…
    Its a pity it doesn’t work for fan pages though, that would have been totally awesome!

    Karen, you are a life saver! Why facebook don’t have this option is standard is beyond me? Manually selecting each and every friend when you know that you want to invite everyone was literally driving me nuts.

    This is a great little find and I think I saw the same article on Chingya’s site a few months ago, I use this bookmarklet only 3 times on Facebook and the only time is to recommend your facebook fanpage to friends. However, it is useful for my Wife’s Music Production company where she sends concert and event invitations as most of her facebook friends are all local in the same state.

    If I were to ‘select all my Facebook friends’ I would be shot! [grins] However, I will suggest this blog to my husband. Male counterparts can be shot and survive these type of things. :) Perhaps after he is shot we might have a few leads to pursue. He’ll survive, I’m sure! He has a tough constitution.

    I was using something similar when i wanted to invite all my real life friends and friends from games but it only worked in IE and Chrome at first. Then it only worked in Chrome and last time i wanted to try it, it didnt work in chrome either. I’ll try yours next time when i need to invite them all, probably even in 2-3 weeks from now when i finish with implementing new template. Tnx

    Hi, I tried to use this on both a group and a fan page. The group worked. The fan page it doesn’t seem to do anything. Did facebook block it somehow?

    Well….Guess what? I have over ten facebook accounts and on one of them it looks like they completely redesigned the friend invite box. None of my currently working scripts work on this new book including yours. When you see it, let me know and if you find a fix for it PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

    I just got done doing an invite with my “compromised” Facebook account. The new interface does not populate all your friends at once and requires you to scroll completely down for them all to be in the window. It also does not allow you to use lists separate groups of friends.

    This is gonna be a tough fix. It is a totally new layout. A screenshot of the new friend box is available at http://tony-venuti.com/friendbox.pdf

    I am just getting my head around using Facebook for commercial purposes, although I admit that for the time being I can’t see how it is going to drive extra business to our company. However, a few relevant links will at least bring it up on page one when it is that somebody searches for our company. Surely that can’t be bad. ;)

    Thanks to share this information through your blog. That is a hidden technique for inviting your pages to your all friend with a single click. I have one question that can we use it in our FBML page I think if we use in FBML tab then our page’s visitors also could send our page to their all friends by doing only one click.

    Hi Karen,

    The new FB update does not allow the script to function any longer. Is there a work-around in place, or another script? I’ve been searching, but I haven’t been able to locate one yet.

    I found a script that works pretty well. It’s a bit flaky. You have to let all your friends load before you click on the script, so scroll down through your friends and make sure that all their pics are showing besides their names before you click on the script to run it, and it’ll work fine.

    I really love these chrome extensions. They make our work easier, remove annoying things. One extension I recommend to all facebook users is “Adblock”. It solves the problem of “first letter missing in chat messages”.
