This year proves to be an exciting one in the life of a comic book / superhero fan – we’ve just had the release of the excellent Iron Man 3, and we’ve still got Man of Steel, The Wolverine, X-Men Origins: Magneto, Thor: The Dark World and plenty of others.
As a result, there’s a phenomenal amount of comic book related content doing the rounds online at the moment, ranging from excellent (some of the Iron Man infographics have been great) to extremely poor.
One such piece of content I came across yesterday easily sits on the quality side of the scale, and really caught my attention (mainly as I was surprised nobody had come up with this idea before!). LifeQuotes4U came up with the concept of figuring out the life expectancies of our favourite superheroes and comic book characters and putting them into an infographic – it’s a great idea and I love the way they’ve worked out the life expectancies (taking into account whether the character smokes or drinks, if they’re human, a mutant or immortal, whether or not they have any regenerative powers and whether they’ve died in any of their comic book stories).
It’s just a bit of fun, and I’m sure it will create a lot of debate amongst comic book fans as to the accuracy of the assertions, but I have to say as a bit of a comic-nerd myself I think they’ve done a pretty good job!
