Not only has the main site had an overhaul, but the Community Blog, where guest bloggers can have their say by submitting posts that other bloggers can and generally do find extremely useful, in a vast range of subjects, I even guest post there myself on the odd occasion.

Even the Blog Forums have had the same makeover, these are ideal for help on a large range of subjects in the blogging world, if you’ve got a question about WordPress, then there is usually someone in the forums who will help you out, have an issue with making a video to upload on YouTube then this is also the place to look.

Now some time back I was reading though the blog over at BlogEngage about a contest that was being run “Four $50 USD prizes to win at blogengage“, it’s also where I noticed that Brian was using RaffleCopter to run the competition, which I do like the look of and may use it myself sooner or later, anyway I digress.

So I gave the contest a shot and tweeted, likes, followed etc to do what I could to enter in to the BlogEngage contest, I must say that I was able to follow some brilliant bloggers that are on BlogEngage through the contest and it was fun doing it

As I mentioned above this is purely experimental for the blog so for the time being I have several “Rewards” running that can be earned when you are here, now only two rewards available, but over time and if this becomes popular I will be adding some more.

Getting Your Rewards

Simple by Visiting, Tweeting, Liking and using Google+1 will gain you loyalty points and you will than be able to use them for your rewards, you can find all the latest rewards and what you currently have by clicking the rewards tab on the right of the screen.

An Incentive To The Readers

All this will hopefully help the blog go that little bit further in to the world of the interweb So by sharing the post to your fellow followers and will not only give you points but will also get the blog to hopefully have more people stopping by and interacting with each other.

As I mentioned this is all something new that I’m trying and I would love to get your opinion on this, such as what would you like to see in the rewards and do you think this system will work in the long-term or only in the short-term.

As promised folks today is the day that I announce the winners of the Blazing Minds Birthday Bash Contest which has been running lately in celebration of the blogs third birthday yesterday, so now it’s time to see who has one and what they have one.

Choosing The Winners

Over the time that the contest was running I took all the entrants and added their details and entries in to a database to keep a record of them, each entry was given a unique number and it’s this number that was used to pick the winners.

Then it was over to random.org to generate the numbers for the winners and their prizes this way the numbers were indeed chosen at random.

Happy Birthday To Us, As Blazing Minds Is 3 Years Old

Yes folks, today is the day that the Blazing Minds blog celebrates its third birthday today and with that we would like to thank everyone that has read, commented and shared not only my posts, but also the posts of some of the amazing guest bloggers that have written for the blog over the last three years.

Celebrating With A Birthday Contest

As a lot of you will have seen, some time back I started a competition to celebrate the blogs third birthday and now that the Birthday Bash Contest has come to an end I will be announcing the winners of the prizes tomorrow right here on Blazing Minds, but until then let’s just reminisce on the last three years.

Blazing Minds 3 Years In The Making

Now when I originally started the blog, I wasn’t overly sure what it was going to turn in to and blogging from the heart was my main aim, over time the Blazing Minds blog has become a collection of information, humor and a mixed bag of posts that have found their way in to the hearts and minds of its readers.

Promoting the blog over the collection of social networks became ever more popular and those that have known the blog and myself from the very start will tell you that my Avatar is probably one that so many bloggers recognize on the many sites around the world, not only on social networks, but also in the comment section on several blogs.

Now when a blogger usually sees the flaming red hair of my avatar (created with Meez) then they usually think of me, though my hair has grown out the fiery red and now it’s a bit shorter

Working With Bloggers, Tweeters And Friends

Over the years the blog has grown and has been helped along by some truly amazing Guest Bloggers and Tweeters that have taken the time to RT those informative and sometimes humorous blog posts to their followers and this in turn has help Blazing Minds grow in its popularity.

I’ve been helped by friends I’ve met via the many social networks etc such as BlogEngage, Twitter and Facebook, where they have all given their knowledge in helping the blog run smoother and even getting the blog post out to people who would probably not see them.

A Big Thank You

So all I can say is a big thank you to everyone that is following me and the blog on its journey through the blogasphere and here’s to the next three years of guest posts, comments and complete madness that we call affectionately call ”blogging”

Blog Engage Top Weekly User – Me!!

What a wonderful surprise for myself and my blog today as I have been given the honour of the Blog Engage Top Weekly User.

I feel so honoured that I was nominated over at BlogEngage for the Weekly Top User, as I always say, I’m just blogging and enjoying what I’m doing and helping fellow bloggers along the way.

I saw the post about nominating a top Blog Engage user and would happily like to put forth my personal favorite at the moment. I really am enamored with Karen (BlazingMinds) from BlazingMinds . The best way I can back up my reason behind nominating her can be found in a comment I left on her “Blazing Minds Hits 1,000 Posts” post. The comment was as follows: “Your site is not about chugging out tons of worthless content but really compelling stuff. I visit a couple times a week to get a dose of entertainment and social media news as well as the great tips you and your guest posters share.”

I’ve just recently came up with my decision as of to whom my vote will go. And this time, I will vote for BlazingMinds ( Karen Woodham ) for the spot. I’ve usually seen her content across BE and I don’t know why but I’ve also get to see her comments whenever I logged into BE at times.

Can you believe it, on the 4th September, Blazing Minds will be three years old, good grief have I really been running this blog that long, it certainly goes to prove that time does indeed fly when you are having fun, most recently hitting 1,000 blog posts inspired me to do something a little special for the 3rd birthday of Blazing Minds, so I’ve thought what to do to celebrate.

I’ve come up with the idea of the Blazing Minds Birthday Bash Contest, it’s a case of those wanting to enter the contest to Tweet and blog about the contest and link back to this post and Blazing Minds. As you will see from this post there are some brilliant prizes up for grabs and you just never know there may be more if any sponsors would like to add to the prize fund.
