We all hate to be taken out of context. Context is our last bastion in conversational self-defense.

“Why did you say that?”

“I never said that.”

“Yes, actually, you did.”

“No. I didn’t.”

“Yes. You did.”

“Okay, maybe I did, but it was taken out of context.”

It’s frustrating to have to defend yourself when people haven’t heard the whole story.

On the flip side, sometimes you have to advertise yourself with a single line full of subtext and that single lines is all you get. A perfect example of this? Movie poster taglines.

Ever go to the theater early, say an hour or an hour and a half before your movie’s show time? You get an early start on a bucket of popcorn along with an ice cold drink and you walk leisurely down the darkened hallways of the Cineplex looking at all the backlit posters promoting coming attractions and blockbuster features. What gets my attention the most is not necessarily the big names, the A-list stars or directors or even the brightly colored images. No, what really hooks me are the taglines.

Taglines are the one shot a film has to describe itself to you before you take a sip on your Dr. Pepper, shrug your shoulders and move down the hallway. It’s like speed dating for movies.

Now we may all know that blogging can be very time-consuming, what with reading blogs, commenting and writing our own posts, but how can we give everything an equal share of our time?

I go to work during the day and I have to admit that when travelling from one job to another I do Tweet with my Twitter @BlazingMinds and if a blog idea springs to mind I either jot it down or dictate it on my phone for later.

But is there a good way of spreading our time in to the right amount to give everything a chance of getting something done during the day.

Do you spend more time blogging, working or putting your feet up, if your married does your other half give you a set amount of time that you have on “that bloody computer” each night, so you cram in as much as you can before it’s family time?

So putting it simply, how do you fit everything in during the day, do you even get chance to do everything that you want to do?

I personally spilt my day up. Work during the day, grab a few minutes here and there to catch up on my blogging, put my feet up for a bit with a Cappuccino and they maybe tweet a little, before placing my head on a soft cosy pillow to refuel for the following day ;)

This was a bit of awesome news for me today as I saw a tweet mentioning that I had become featured blogger on the website, Bloggers, a website where bloggers like myself can hook up with other bloggers and show off their blogs to the world!!!

Karen Woodham from United Kingdom has been featured, her profile http://bit.ly/ccKYY6 and Blog http://bit.ly/ceOvQb #blogger #blog

So I was over the moon when the I saw the tweet and just had to get to my blog and, well, blog about it. I am hoping this shows that I am doing something right with my blog and it is getting recognised in the blogging communities.

Featured Blogger on Bloggers

So I must say an awesome big thank you to everyone over at Bloggers for the opportunity to become the featured blogger, so please stop by and check out me out on Bloggers, while you are there please vote for me also, if you are a blogger, then why not add your own blog ;)

I’ve visited a few blogs since I started blogging and over the last year my blog has grown in popularity and it’s comments, but the question is:

Is there a right or wrong way to display comments?

For those who are not sure what I mean by displaying your comments on your blog I shall try to explain…

On a [intlink id="blazing-minds-upgraded-wordpress" type="post"]Wordpress[/intlink] set up you have several options for your comments, one is that you can display your comments as the most recent comment at the top of the comments list or most recent at the bottom,  another option which is useful for [intlink id="flipping-websites-fun-profit" type="post"]Website SEO[/intlink] is the option to split comments over pages, for example imagine you’ve got 40 comments on one post, imaging how big that page would look! So you can spread the comments over so many pages and does it make a difference in the SEO of your blog and help with the loading time with [intlink id="tips-bloggers-commentators" type="post"]Google[/intlink].

So now it’s over to my readers ….

  • Do you prefer to have the comments with the latest at the top or the bottom of the comment list?
  • How many comments per page do you think is just enough?

It will be interesting to see everyone’s responses about this ;)

I was happily tweeting away the other day when a tweet came in from @jsinkeywest about the BloggerLuv community, now I’m not one for whoring myself out to these communities and social networks, I am really, so I had to stop by.

Now I like to think that I am a supporter of fellow bloggers and I do try now and again to give a bit of advice and linky love to fellow bloggers, and the BloggerLuv community is one such place that in my humble, if not deranged, opinion is a site that all bloggers should become part of. I’ve not been a member long and I’m only just getting used to what can be done, but it’s one hell of a site!

So it’s now 2010, wow doesn’t time fly, it doesn’t seem that long ago since it was the 1st Jan 2009. With another month flown by it’s that time ago to bring you a round-up of the previous months round-up, things have been hotting up on the blog over the last month and only today I was proud to announce on Twitter that my blog had hit the 3,000 mark in comments a wonderful milestone for myself and a true appreciation of those that stop by and decide to leave well written comments.

It seems to be that another month has gone by and that means it’s time for a chance to bring the readers of the Blazing Minds blog a monthly round-up of the best commentators, best posts, top referring blogs and some other little stats that I can throw in for good measure ;)
