The actors of Scifi often attain cult status. Sometimes it’s hard for anyone to think of these actors as anyone other than the famous scifi character they played. Here we will take a look at just a few of our favorite scifi legends.

The most obvious example would be Spock from the original Star Trek played by Leonard Nimoy.

Spock’s mixed human-Vulcan heritage gave him those infamous pointy ears. Now it’s hard to imagine Mr. Nimoy without them. Sure he has had over 50 bit parts in other television shows and movies, and is a director, musician and photographer. But mostly we remember and love him the most as the cool headed Vulcan on Star Trek.

Clockwise from top left: Marge, Homer, Bart, S...

As the latest round of Simpsons guest stars are wheeled out, it’s easy to dismiss the whole thing as a lot of old barrel scraping. But guest stars make the Simpsons, and have done since its inception. It’s just that in recent years, the show’s pandering to current trends and faces that become instantly obscure is far more pronounced. The old cliché is that you haven’t really made it until you’ve been featured on the Simpsons, but the tendency for the later seasons to bundle actors in under their real names is frankly indulgent (and indicative of the blight on professional voice acting that Hollywood stars have been since Aladdin). Katy Perry, Halle Berry, Russel Brand, Daniel Radcliffe?

The Simpsons entered the Guinness Book of Records with 337 Guest Stars nearly six years (and seasons) ago. There are now 740 Credited appearances of guest stars, though this figure (unlike the record breaking figure above) includes the multiple appearances of actors like Albert Brooks, Kelsey Grammer, Phil Hartman and Joe Mantegna (you know, talented people who play characters other than themselves). This is quite an achievement when you consider that for at least the first four seasons, a number of A-listers were appearing under pseudonyms, apparently embarrassed about appearing on an animated show. Nowadays, we get to be embarrassed about A-listers in our animated shows. How times change.

Anyway, without further ado the best and the worst in Simpsons guest stars

I'm a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! (U.S. TV s...
Image via Wikipedia

So ITV in their wisdom have decided to bombard us yet again with a show that may be popular with the celebrity hungry public, but not with me…

That’s right “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here” is back on our TVs as of the 14th November, a show where celebrities who have either got a failing career or need to be even more in the public eye, decide they are going to spend time in an Australian jungle doing things that no other “sane” person would even attempt to do.

Before anyone asks, yes I have watched the show and I still think that’s it’s a complete waste of time and money!

I dare say that those “celebrities” and I say that loosely are looking forward to spending time with the comforts they are used to, but the question often arises of, why?

As I mentioned earlier, most of them have usually been out of the limelight for a while and this is a chance for them to get back in the public eye, but to me, I just see the fiasco as completely pointless, not only have we just been put through the pain and suffering of the The X Factor, but now we have to have our TV schedule littered with this dribble. What next the return of Britain’s Got Talent, oh that’s back spring 2011!!!

Ok, I’m steeping on the toes of those that love the The X Factor and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, but come on isn’t it time that TV stations have something fresh and interesting on, and not a bunch on wannabes and has beens prancing around the TV making complete idiots of themselves, obviously not!

So this is the way that TV is going, celebrity everything, just because something has been popular and has a following, doesn’t mean that we all love it, so I’m preparing myself for breakfast shows with “did you see I’m A Celebrity last night?” and “Here’s the latest from the camp” and so on and so forth. Yes it’s on lots, but please, please stop ramming it down our throats everyone 20 minutes!

I have posted before on my blog about these celebrity shows and how much they annoy me, but hey this is the Monday Moan and I have every right to whinge, it’s my blog! ;)

What are the top 5 most famous vans in the world – models that, in most cases, cannot be traded in for newer versions?  Normally, I am writing about how to approach leasing a van, or what the various attributes are in the finance world. But on this occasion, I wanted to focus on a light-hearted personal take on my top five ‘alternative’ vans.

Denise Van Outen

Now here is a model that you probably wouldn’t want to trade for newer version, at least not for a while yet! The Van Outen has classic lines and soft Aerodynamic curves with a great set of headlamps – definitely no over-tight wing nuts on this one. The downside could be that it has a large number of miles on the clock, as its early life was spent [humping JK] humping JK’s equipment up and down the motorway!

I was recently lucky enough to attend the European film premier of ‘Valentine’s Day’ in Leicester Square, London. I say lucky, but it will probably be the last film premier I attend, as although it was a great experience, it doesn’t half make you feel insignificant.
My girlfriend got the tickets from a contact that couldn’t make it, and it sounded very exciting when she broke the news to me that we would be hitting the red carpet with all the celebs. It was unfortunate that the film was Valentine’s Day, but I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

The evening started off quite stressfully actually. The tube at London Victoria was closed, the queue at the taxi rank was a good 30 people long, and we had about 20 minutes to get to the Odeon in Leicester square. We eventually got a taxi, but had to grind to a halt when driving down The Mall to let Prince Charles and his police escort out of Clarence House where he lives. I promise I am not making this up; it seems Charles had somehow wangled some tickets to the premier as well, and no one in London was going to stop him getting there. With the traffic at a halt we had to run the rest of The Mall, through Trafalgar Square and arrived at the cinema in our finest attire with bright red faces and panting like huskies.

It’s that time of year again when Channel 4 decide to bombard with a complete and utter pile of … careful Karen might tell me of for swearing  Yes it’s time for Celebrity Big Brother which begs the question:

WHY?

Plain and simply really, why do channel 4 bother with this complete and utter dribble, it’s bad enough having just suffered Help I’m a Washed Up Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. It seems that everything is celebrity these days, don’t they get enough stardom and lime light from what they do anyway, oh hang most of them have a flagging career anyway ;)

Yes, I know what fans of the show will say, “If you don’t like it don’t watch it!” ok that may be the case but then every time you turn on the TV in the morning it’s this celebrity did this, that celebrity did that, I DON’T CARE!!!!!!

Ok my rant is over …. Or is it?
