Panic struck yesterday as my trusty seven port USB Hub decided to stop working and what made the problem even worse is when I unplugged the devices connected and plugged them in the computers USB ports the computer wasn’t recognizing them, so I got straight on my email and contacted my good friend Damion for some help and he offered straight away to come and have a look!

But, this morning I had one of those moments where I thought to myself I wonder if I could do the same as I do with my SKY+ box when there is a problem!

So I powered down the computer and unplugged everything even the power cable from the mains, then left it for a little while, I wasn’t sure if anything would happen, but it was worth a try.

After about five minutes I plugged everything back in and powered up the computer again, fingers crossed I waited patiently for the reboot and the little green lights on the USB Hub, WOW, it actually worked the USB Hub had come back to life and all my gadgets were now activating again, even the USB sockets on the front of the computer were working again, amazing.

Now I’m not sure exactly why this worked, maybe there was a residual current left in the computer somewhere when the USB Hub originally malfunctioned and the computer still thought it wasn’t working and the complete power down removed the current that was held in the computer somewhere, all I know it worked and now I can get back to normal
