It’s time to slap on the sun lotion as soon as you can if your living or visiting our little island this week as we prepare for a heatwave to hit the country.

It’s been forecasted that this week could break all the records over the years with temperatures hitting 30°C (86°F) in the middle of the week, which would make it the hottest spell for years!

But despite all this the forecasters have also said that this will not be a solid wall of sunshine as it will be broken up by the odd thundery downpours, it will also feel humid and the pollen counts will rise, which is just what us hay fever sufferers need!

The Bookmakers Ladbrokes is offering odds of 8/1 that Wales beats its top temperature of 35.2C, and 17/2 that Scotland tops 32.9C or Northern Ireland exceeds 30.8C.

Ladbrokes have also set 13/2 that the  top temperature midweek will hit 32°C (91.4°F).

I know that our back garden here in North Wales has hit 29.4°C (84.9°F) which has felt a little cooler by a nice coastal breeze, but it’s still hot and it’s lovely, but have we got this hot spell for a short time, will it disappear next week and return to rain, rain and more rain. We will se but I’m personally hoping for a good run of warm weather, yes the odd shower would be nice to cool everything down at night, but the warm spell would perfect for BBQs and garden lounging ;)

Greeting readers and thanks for stopping by for this weeks Saturday Six, this weeks theme is Colds, Flu and Bugs. With all the news and scaremongering about Swine Flu at the moment I thought it may be a good subject for this weeks theme. So as usual either post your answers here or on your blog with a link back here, it’s up to you ;)

  1. Are you worried about Swine Flu (H1N1 influenza)?
  2. Do you think it is as bad as the press make out?
  3. Coughs, colds and flu like symptoms are usually around this time of year, do you think people will panic more now if hey get the “common” cold?
  4. Do you think Swine Flu is a natural decease or man made?
  5. How long do you think it will be before a “cure” is found for the “common” cold?
  6. Has your reaction changed to someone who is sneezing, coughing or sniffing next to you since the news of Swine Flu?

Ok, that’s it, thanks for taking part and I’m looking forward to everyone’s answers ;)

This morning we had a letter from the local council with regards to “Notice of Application for Planning Permission”

My first thought was “I wonder which one of our neighbours is planning to build now!”, but after further reading of the letter it turns out to be planning permission to the council from the council on operating collection of food waste and bulking!

So it seems that we will be getting the council giving us little bins or something similar for us to recycle our food waste, now no longer will we be throwing food in the normal bin, but now into a recycle bin.

That means we will have the normal wheelie bin, a bin for glass and tin, a bag for paper and a bin for waste food! You may of noticed no bin for plastics, no, in the councils wisdom, food waste is more important than recycling plastic, yeah right!

I was just reading about the fires in Australia and it now seems that the Police have mounted a huge manhunt for the arsonists that started the wildfires and believe that the wildfires may of killed in the region of 300 people and destroyed around 1,000 homes.

The Australian police have already arrested and charged a 31 year old man and a 15 year old boy with starting fires in New South Wales and thankfully no deaths have been reported, so far.

It makes you wonder what is going through the minds of those that started the fires, are they laughing at what they have done or are they feeling some remorse, maybe we will know more when or if the police capture these idiots.

Country WalkI’ve been out for a lovely walk today with my mum and two little dogs, the weather wasn’t too bad so we thought we would take them on a nice long walk at the back of the Tir Prince raceway.

As you can see by the picture this is the nice little walk that we took, it’s look nice and clean and calming.

A very relaxing walk with the two dogs watching them playing around and having fun.

But I was quite upset in how people treat the countryside around them, amongst a closer look there were bottles, old cans of lager and to my utter show a tent that someone had decided to just throw away in the hedge!

Old TentCome on people what is wrong with you, can’t you just take your rubbish home with you or even recycle your old stuff.

It really ticks me off when people have no care for their surroundings or the environment and the animals in, so please take your rubbish home!!!!

On a nicer note, on the walk we met a man looking for owls to photograph and it turns out he’s one of our local artists, his name was Martin Jones and you can find some of his artwork and photographs on his website called Annzart, so please find the time to visit his website.

going green 261x300 Saturday Six Green!Ok it’s that time again for the Saturday Six and this week I’ve gone green, not like the Hulk, but green as in the environment. So without any further ado here’s this weeks six:

  1. Do you recycle?
  2. Have you fitted any energy saving light bulbs?
  3. If you don’t have far to go, do you walk or still use your car?
  4. Have you turned down your thermostats by one degree?
  5. Do you leave your TV etc on standby or turn it off at the wall?
  6. Do you wash your clothes on a 30 setting or higher?

As usual you can either answer the questions here or copy the questions on to your blog with a link back here (and leave a link in the comments).
