I have to admit to that I’m probably a bit late when it comes to using Google Chrome full-time, I have used it in the past, but always fell back to FireFox, but, now I using Google Chrome over other browsers.

It all started with the update on FireFox to version 3.6.2, my system slowed down when I updated to this version and it was just getting on my nerves, I haven’t used Internet Explorer 8 for ages and never really liked it, so it was time to grab the latest version of Google Chrome and go from there.

Suffice to say, it was a bit daunting at first with a lot of the FireFox plugins I use not on Chrome, but thanks to a post by DragonBlogger, “Top 10 Google Chrome Extensions” which led me to a post by Rob, “My top 10 Google Chrome extensions I can’t live without” I found several extensions that would make my browsing better with Google Chrome, though I do miss some of my favourite plugins from FireFox, but the speed of Google Chrome is vastly better than FireFox and I’m browsing much more in the space of time compared to FireFox.

So for now, I’m quite happy to have Google Chrome as my default browser

So the other day I got that little box in my browser saying that the new version of FireFox (version 3.6) was ready to update on my computer, so I opted to get the update and start using the latest version of FireFox, my prefered browser

Suffice to say that FireFox 3.6 runs a lot faster than the earlier version and my browsing has become quicker, but not only that but I discovered a FireFox Plugin called “Personas for FireFox”

So I decided to check them out and find out what they were and to put it simply they allow you to simply and quickly change the look of your FireFox browser or in other words change your browser theme.

But there is a difference between themes and Personas, a theme will change the look of your browser as well as change the buttons etc to the themes look, where as the Persona will only change the image behind the toolbar etc.

You can hover over the examples on the Personas website and your browser will update straight away, which is great, so you can see how it looks.

You do have to install the Firefox plugin for Personas, but this is quick and painless, you will then see a Fox icon on the bottom left of your browser which gives you a list of options, such as adding more Personas, your favourites, preferences etc.

Ok this isn’t a plugin that is a necessity but it certainly makes your browsing look better than just having a plain background.

With a large collection of Personas to choose from, at the time of writing this post it was at 41,626, plus a good choice of categories to choose from such as Abstract, fashion, film & TV, music, nature and loads more.

I like Personas, it just allows me to have my browser looking a little different from time to time, instead of the mundane look of FireFox, but all to their own and it’s a personal choice on if you would like to change the look of your FireFox.

Another plus side to all this is that Personas also has a step by step guide on how to create your own and then submit it to the gallery of other designs, so you could, in theory, design one for your website, company or if you are in a band design one for your fans to have on their browser.

So there we have it, that’s my opinion on Personas, what do you think?

First up “My Foot is Dirtier” on BenSpark, I’m a keen reader of this blog and the photography there is superb and this post is, as usual, at a very high standard.

Then on to an interesting and very useful post by Extreme John on “Backlink Checker for Counting Backlinks” here I found three websites listed with tips on your backlinks for your blog etc.

Atniz.com is another blog that I frequent and the post “The Dead of blog advertising” is an interesting read on what is happening to the reduction of your revenue through blog advertising these days.

Comedy Plus always brings a smile to my face and today I got an Awww from the very cute picture at “Awwww…Mondays #24“.

Daddy Papersurfer is another constant read and though I have been a bit of a slacker on commenting lately, maybe this post will make up for it, although sometimes posts can be short on DP’s blog they always bring a giggle to my chuckle muscles and reading the comments is fun, specially the post “WANTED — A PRIVET COUNCILLOR“.

Finally a word from the great DaddyP again, but this time on FuelMyBlog, which I’m a proud contributor of several posts, the post “THE TROJAN HOARSE” is DaddyP showing his addiction, no not the ginger nuts, but about blogging, but aren’t we all

So there you have it, just a small round up of some of the posts I’ve enjoyed reading today, there are loads more, but time constraints and the fact I’m flaming starving are bringing this humble posts to an end, so ciao for now readers…

So the other day I noticed that my FireFox was letting me know that V3.5 was ready to download and upgrade, great I thought the next version which had been promised to be faster that previous incarnations of the browser.

Without any hesitation I updated my Firefox to 3.5 and found several thing straight away!

For starters a few plugin that I use were not compatible with 3.5 and were disabled, not too much of a fuss as there were only two that wouldn’t work one was the Microsoft .NET framework assistant and the other was the EntreCard Toolbar, now the toolbar is something that I do use, so not been able to use it has caused a drop in my EC, but I’ve had to resort to the original method of dropping, for now anyway.

The other thing I noticed after running Firefox 3.5 for the first time is that it’s faster, not turbo fast, but as least twice as fast as the earlier version which has made my browsing that bit faster.

So here’s a run down from the Firefox site on what’s new:

Firefox 3.5 is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering platform, which has been under development for the past year. Firefox 3.5 offers many changes over the earlier version, supporting new web technologies, improving performance and ease of use. Some of the notable features are:

Available in more than 70 languages. (Get your local version!)

Support for the HTML5 <video> and <audio> elements including native support for Ogg Theora encoded video and Vorbis encoded audio. (Try it here!)

Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.

Better web application performance using the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.

The ability to share your location with websites using Location Aware Browsing. (Try it here!)

Support for native JSON, and web worker threads.

Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.

Support for new web technologies such as: downloadable fonts, CSS media queries, new transformations and properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 local storage and offline application storage, <canvas> text, ICC profiles, and SVG transforms.

Developers can find out about all the changes and new features at the Mozilla Developer Center.

So far everything is running great, I have noticed an increase in speed on sites that I used to visit and this is great, if your not too fussy about your plugin and can wait for the updates to arrive then I would recommend updating now, if you are concerned with your plugins, then just give it a little longer and then upgrade, by which time those plugin should have upgrade

A simple way to find out is to download a FireFox plugin called “SearchStatus“, this is an extremely handy plugin, not only will it highlight all the Nofollow Links on a page so that you can see what is a DoFollow link, but, it also display a websites Google PageRank, It’s Alexa rank and it’s Compete Rank.

It also have loads of other features such as showing a sites whois listing, Meta Tags, link report and much more.

So if you are serious about for commenting on DoFollow blogs then this is a FireFox plugin that I would personally recommend SearchStatus.

Now it can be quite daunting at times keeping with your conversations that you may be having on Twitter or even finding out what those you are following are doing on Twitter.

I myself used to find it a real pain in the backside visiting the Twitter website all the time just to find out my replies etc.

But, there is some software out there that can seriously make Twittering that much easier and here I’m going to bring to your attention just some that I have use and in most cases am still using.

Tweetdeck is a great piece of software that you can open up columns of your choice to display messages, replies and what is happening with the one you are following, it’s simple to use and uses an Adobe Air desktop application to run the software.

Twhirl, this is my preferred program as it allows me to open up multiple Twitter accounts, which is ideal for me as I have my Twitter for this blog as well as one for my artist Twitter, it’s easy to use and very customizable, it too uses an Adobe Air desktop application and is a dream to use.

TwittyTunes this is a plugin for Firefox and enables you to post to Twitter with several options, you can post a normal Tweet, or you can post what you are listening to on iTunes, which is quite handy, I have this on my FireFox and it does come in useful sometimes.

So those are just a some of the Twitter Software that I use, if you know of any better or then let us all know
