Blogging is a great way of beginning your own online business. The start-up costs are minimal and over time, you can get a loyal and impressive readership. When you monetize your blog, you will be able to make a decent income.

Earning From My Blog Is Paying The Bills!

It’s probably a phrase that you’ve seen so many times or at least a phrase similar to “Earning From My Blog Is Paying The Bills“, but it can be done.

Now I’m not saying that my blog is paying every single bill that I have coming in, but the money I’m earning from my blog is helping with things such as Website Hosting and also my Broadband costs, so these in turn are actually paying for my internet fix

So How Am I Doing This?

Google Adsense

Well for starters having Google Adsense running on my blog has been a great benefit, not so much in the early days of the blog, but as the popularity and the Alexa rank has improved then in turn so has the earnings from Google Adsense.

I have to say that has been and still is my top earner for the blog and using the Ads in the right places has made it work better, the current locations and Ad sizes that I use have been best for me and this is the reason I have never really changed them.

BuySellAds

This has also been a great benefit to the blog and when you do have all your Ads sold you can earn a bit from your blog, you decide on what you are going to charge for an Ad on your blog, but remember that you shouldn’t be too greedy or no one will buy the Ad space from you, better to charge too little that too much.

Also BuySellAds will allow you to sell Sponsored Tweets and most recently Ad space in your RSS feeds with a choice of CPM (Cost Per Thousand Impressions) or just a Fixed 30-day rate. I’ve not tried the RSS Feeds as of yet, but may give them a try sooner or later.

You can get paid via PayPal and the threshold is on $20 so it should take long for you to get that, specially if you have a popular blog or website.

AdvertiseSpace

Very similar to BuySellAds, but with the difference that no matter what you have earned, the amount is automatically paid to you PayPal account every month.

Again you have the choice of what you charge for the AdvertiseSpace on your blog and the choice of holder graphics for the Ads, as you can see on the top right of this very blog.

So you could say that once you set these places up, you just forget about them as they run by themselves.

Affiliate Lights

This handy advertising program was set up by @Bbrian017 from Blog Engage, Affiliate Lights is a great little earner, not only can you earn from referrals to Affiliate Lights, but, you can also earn from the superb Blog Engage RSS Syndication Service, of which I use myself, which will post your latest blog post to a collection of websites including Blog Engage, as well as posting it to Facebook and twitter, links are DoFollow and by becoming a member you can also earn with your Google Adsense from your RSS feeds that are posted.

So Why Should You Consider Earning From You Blog?

Why not! Seriously, why shouldn’t you, you work hard enough posting up and replying to comments, viewing other blogs, commenting on those, then why shouldn’t you get a little back from your own blog, even if it only covers your hosting when you first start.

You could say that if you aren’t blogging all the time then it’s not worth it, but I would say that anything that works and is going to help out your pocket is really something considering.

I know when I first started blogging, people told me about Adsense and I shrugged it off, but after actually adding it to the blog and then working hard to build up my blogs reputation, it’s actually paying off.

Blazing Minds Blogger Earnings for February 2010

I’ve not done one of these Blogger Earnings posts for ages, so I thought it was about time that, I checked out how my blog has done over the last month, Blazing Minds is getting more popular lately and this seems to show on the earnings, though some sites such as SponsoredTweets, Magpie and Google Adsense haven’t pulled in as much as they usually do, but sometimes there is a slump in the earnings and I have noticed in the past the February always seem to be the month that slumps!

I was over the moon to get a payment from Google Adsense and the £68.71 paid off my credit card, now if I could only get that every month, instead of waiting a few months for it to accumulate..

Any way here we are, my small earnings for February.

Magpie – £3.02
Paid Ad Space – £18.15
SocialSpark – £20.02
Google Adsense – £6.82

Total for February = £48.01 ($72.57)

Some Handy Websites for all you SEO Fanatics Out There

I was going through my bookmarks recently on FireFox and noticed some handy sites that I would like to share with all my readers, you may already know about some of these already, but, for those that haven’t seen these sites then they are certainly worth checking out and may even help with your future endeavours with your websites SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).

Firstly a great little website, but not to take to seriously is PageRank Prediction the title says it all really, it’s a simple pagerank checker, just enter your website address and the site will try to give you your pagerank on the next Google PageRank update, I’ve found it to be around 80% accurate though, so give it a whirl!

Next is the first in the “Graders” websites, the Website Grader measures the marketing effectiveness of a website. It provides a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective.

The second “Grader” is one which is quite fun and is the Twitter Grader, will give you a grade out of 100, show followers, following, Summary of the Twitter, history and tweet cloud, all good fun and useful tool to see what a new follow is really doing!

Finally a website tool for those of you trying to improve your websites keywords, the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, is a must, just type in the keywords that you would like to improve on and Google will search through it’s database and try to give you a good selection of keywords that may help improve your keyword on your post or website, I do find this very useful for some posts and it has improved my posts in the past, it may even help you with Google Adsense, but it is trial and error, so give it a go.

Blogging from home made me a millionaire!

I bet the title certainly grabbed your attention didn’t it, but this is what you find on the internet these days, people claiming that they have made millions from sitting at home and blogging their proverbial backsides off!

Well, is it possible, I would like to say yes, but, I have to say NO! I have worked hard with my blog with it’s SEO and keyword related tips n tricks and I can quite honestly say that I’m not a millionaire, far from it, my blog bring in a small amount every month with Google Adsense and affiliates such as TradeDoubler, Amazon, iTunes etc bring in minuscule amounts.

So really if you want to quit your real job to make “millions” from just blogging then you’ll have to work all hours.

Don’t get me wrong I do know a few bloggers that have had some success with a work from home venture, but, I don’t think any of them would say that it has made them a millionare, but hey, I may be wrong…

Do EntreCard Visitors Cause your Site to Have a Bad Bounce Rate

Now I have been using EntreCard for a long time now and I must be one of the few “Droppers” that actually visits a site, stays for a while and even leaves a comment if the posts interest me, but the problem is those “Droppers” that speed drop!

The trouble with speed droppers is that they land on your site hit drop and then bugger off! Which is not really good for your blogs bounce rate, ok, I may be sending this right over people heads right now, so I would recommend reading the Wiki about Bounce Rate to find out what it is, but to cut a story short, bounce rate is the amount of time a visitor stays on your blog before moving onto another site etc.

The aim is for you to try to analyze and reduce your Bounce rate, but with EntreCard dropping this is a hard task, due to the problem with speed droppers, there is not much you can do about the EntreCard droppers that just drop and run, but there are ways to improve Bouce Rate with other visitors, so it’s a matter of a little work to get a better Bounce Rate for your blog.

So the question is will a bad Bounce Rate affect your Google search ranking etc? Well some say yes and some say no, so I’m too sure myself, but it is a thought that you have to take with you when blogging or even building your home page on your website, will the content cause your viewer to stay or just shoot straight to another website, before giving you blog/site a chance.

I personally am considering the thoughts that EntreCard is damaging my Bouce Rate and overall search engine rankings, but then again, it helps my Google Advertising with hits etc, so I’m 50/50 at the moment, it’s a “time will tell” situation, so I think I may wait to see how the next Google Page Rank goes and how the searches are coming in before I do anything major..

Are you making the most of your RSS feed?

OK, so you’ve got a blog, and you’ve got your RSS feed, but are you using your feed with your subscribers to it’s advertising potential with Google Adsense?

NO!

Well, my recommendation is to do what I have done will my feeds and get them revitalized with Feedburner & Google Adsense, it’s quit simple really, get yourself a Google Adsense account if you haven’t already got one.

Then once you are in your Adsense control panel select “AdSense Setup” and then “Adsense for Feeds” and then your off, I won’t go into all the set-up and everything here, just check out the “Learn how to get started with AdSense for feeds” for a more detailed explanation on how to set everything up.

Suffice to say that once you have everything setup, your RSS feeds will now have Google Adsense Ads in them and hopefully this should bring you in a little more extra revenue with your blogging, but, I must tell you that this will not make you rich or a millonaire, but every little helps

Don’t Chastise Bloggers Revenue with Adblock

Most bloggers these days use Google Adsense and other Ads to help support their hosting etc, but, many these days are using the FireFox Plugin Adblock Plus.

So how can you help your fellow bloggers by supporting them if you are using Adblock?

Well, first of all if you are an avid reader of a blog, disable Adblock for that specific blog, this will allow Google Adsense to display ads and the blogger will have some revenue coming in, maybe not much but every little helps.

Secondly, if you really don’t mind the Google Adsense ads been displayed, which are not really a problem as they don’t take you away from the blog, then go into the preferences of Adblock and press CTRL+F to display a search box, now type in “pagead2″ and then uncheck the tick box next to it, this will now allow Google Adsense ads to be displayed.

So remember help bloggers by allowing their Google Ads to be displayed on their blogs!

Matched.co.uk closes it doors! So How do you earn cash from your Blog?

For those who have been looking around the net and have not long signed up to the website Matched, then you may or may not know that the site, which had been in a Beta mode for a while, has now decided to close it’s doors.

I myself had not long signed up and though had waited ages for something to happen, wasn’t really that surprised to see that the site had closed.

It is with much regret that we announce that Matched.co.uk has closed.Matched has been running as a beta experiment for some time and, after much careful consideration, it has been decided not to progress the project to the next stage.

As a result, Matched will not be accepting new sign-ups and will no longer be assigning adverts to its current publisher base.

So now it’s time for bloggers to look for some kind of revenue to help support they’re blogging, so, here are my recommendations:

Google Adsense – One of my all time favourites.

SponsoredReviews – This has been quite a good one so far for me.

Smorty – Make money blogging and advertising

WP125 – This is great for adding and running your own 125×125 ad service, highly recommended.

Amazon – Yes they do an associates program which a host of options.

TradeDoubler – Another one of my favourites with a great collection of affiliates such as iTunes, Play.com and stacks more to choose from.

PayPal – Yes, PayPal, by adding a Make A Donation button you can sometimes find that someone who appreciates your work will make some sort of donation

So don’t sit idol with your blog, help it make it pay it’s way, I’m not saying you will be a multi-millionaire, but even if it covers your web hosting etc, then surely that’s a bonus in itself.
