Ok I promise that this is going to be the last “Top List” post that I do for updates from last year, but as a lot of you who read Blazing Minds also know me for my love of music, I thought I would do a musical based “Top List” post using my personally scrobbles via Last.fm so this is my Top Artists, Albums And Track Scrobbles list.
Ever since I got my iPod Classic a couple of years ago, my music collection has been growing and though it’s not as big as some peoples music lists, so far I have around 6,320 tracks on my iPod, it is great for me and I get to add some amazinging unsigned artists to it quite frequently and have even had the honour of working with a few on my Remergence project.
So as you can expect I do have a tendency to play a lot of music on my iPod and when it is plugged in to iTunes it syncs up with last.fm and records what I have been listening to, though sometimes last.fm has a bit of a fit and doesn’t “scrobble” the tracks, but besides from that it’s all automatically done for me Read the rest of this entry »
Ok everyone! This could possibly be the final update to this post, so lets get on with it
Now I’ve always been a fan of the TV show Monkey Dust that used to be on BBC Three some years ago with it’s quirky characters and amazing music, this is the show that introduced me to the wonderful musical talents of Goldfrapp and Boards of Canada!
So since having a trusty iPod I’ve been collecting the tracks that have been on the several series that the show ran over and when I originally typed this post I had 22 tracks, now at my most recent count I have 56 tracks that were used over the three series on Monkey Dust, yes that many!
As a lot of you who read Blazing Minds will know, from time to time I get the chance to review some new music by some amazing artists. The other day I was sent the new forthcoming EP from the band In Darklight, you may have seen the review I did of their album “Dying To Confess” so I was over the moon to get a chance to hear and review their latest work.
Tell me more about the In Darklight EP!
The “In Darklight EP” features five tracks: Slaves, Turn Your Back, Break, Quick Fire and Greenhouse, all of which have that In Darklight sound and feel that I’ve become accustomed to since first hearing them on the album I reviewed some time back.
What appeals to me with In Darklight and specially with this EP is the quality of the recordings, they are top quality with the sound production being spot on with plenty of power for me to have the music blasting out of my 1,000 watt system and still keeping any distortion away. It seems to be a common complaint that when searching through all the artists on your iPod you come to a point where you know an artist is there, but you just can’t see them listed!
I had this problem the other day, I just fancied listening to the classic extended version of the brilliant Life’s What You Make It by Talk Talk, so I went in to my list of artists and scrolled down to the T’s, no Talk Talk at all, hang on I’ve got the remix album on there!
Now this had me stumped, I could find Talk Talk by searching with the search option and even by album, but why not the artist in the artists list, very strange indeed, so I investigated and played with some of the settings on my iPod, I eventually got Talk Talk listed.
So How Did I Get The Missing Artist Listed On My iPod Again?
After a while of “tweaking” I discovered that by going into the settings of my iPod and selecting Main Menu then un-selecting Compilations, Talk Talk and a few other artists re-appeared in the list of artists.
It seems that when the Compilations option is selected the iPod will puts albums and tracks is a directory called Compilations, making the tracks invisible in the normal artists section, bit of a pain, but at least I got it sorted out.
So there you have it, if you are having trouble finding missing artists on your iPod then this could be the problem, it’s a simple thing to fix and hopefully it should work
So there I was browsing through BlogEngage and voting on some interesting article, when I came upon a post with an animation on YouTube titled Pigeon: Impossible, which had me in stitches.
I tried to explain this funny short to a friend of mind and they just didn’t get it, so they asked me if I could put it on my iPod to show them, hmmm, now I wasn’t sure if this was possible, so I searched the net and after several websites claiming they knew how it could be done, but they didn’t seem to work, I found myself on a website with a download of a Free YouTube to iPod Convertor.
Now I did have my doubts on whether this would actually work, but I shouldn’t of!
The program is so easy to use just download it, install it and run it, yes it’s that simple, then all your need to do is copy the URL of the video on YouTube and then add the downloaded and converted video to your iTunes, easy!
The output files are saved in MP4 or 3GP formats into the program’s folder in My Documents, and they retain the name of the source video. They are ready to playback on your iPod, PSP, BlackBerry or mobile phone.
So I’ve tried it and it works, I’ve got the funny video on my iPod and my friend loved it. I probably won’t use this a lot, but it will certainly help on tuition videos that are on YouTube, I mean sometimes it’s just easier to have them on my iPod and watch them when Ive got a bit of spare time and this isn’t always when I’m connected to the net.
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Powermat. All opinions are 100% mine.
Now there comes a time when having stacks of gadgets such as an iPhone, iPod, Blackberry or even an Nintendo DS, you find yourself with a mass of cables to plug-in to charge your gadgets, which can sometimes be quite frustrating, for starters, where the heck do you put the charger.
But with wireless charging technology this will be a thing of the past, now it’s even easier to charge those gadgets with the use of the Powermat this handy “mat” you simply place the mat on a surface and place your gadget on the mat to start charging, how awesome is that, no more tangled mess of cords or searching for the right adaptor and best of all the mat is easy to use at home, at the office, on the road.
I know that I would personally find a Wireless Charging Powermat a real bit of useful kit there is many a time I come home from work and just want to sit down and relax and not have to search for the right charger for my phone to charge and just be able to pu the phone down and for it to start charging, less hassle and more time to spend doing other things.
