Those that have followed my Twitter will have noticed that last night I went to Cineworld in Llandudno to see G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
G.I. Joe (Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity) are an elite military unit of special ops that operate from a hidden base of operations known as “The Pit”, they take on an organization led by an arms dealer..
The film, directed by Stephen Sommers, who has previously directed The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and Van Helsing, so you can expect an action pact movie, I kid you not!
From start to finish this film will engulf you in an action overload and it never stops, weel it does, but it’s probably only for about 5-10 mins of the film, the rest of the film is pure unadulterated loud, big, explosions, plenty of chases, lots of gun fire and some pretty nifty FX.
The film is rated with a 12a in the UK and it probably needs it with the action that’s in it, so not really recommended for your small children that may have the toys at home, this is not a kids movie, it is though a movie that both guys and gals will enjoy, there is just enough going on in the film to keep you hooked.
I do have my niggles about the film though, but that’s just me, for starters I couldn’t help thinking of Sean Connery every time Christopher Eccleston spoke and there are a few continuity problems, such as the earing that “Heavy Duty” is wearing changing sides towards the end and the scar on the face of “Duke” that changes size though the film.
But besides these trivial faults the film is enjoyable with some cameos from some actors you will know, such as Branden Fraser and Kevin J O’connor, so if you’re looking for an intense, action packed movie to enjoy then this is certainly one to go and see…
