It usually happens that when I get a day off from work we get nothing but rain, but today was different, it has been lovely and sunny, the perfect day off!

So I made the most of it and headed up to Llandudno for some time in the sunshine, stopping off in BHS (British Home Store) for a cappuccino before heading into the town to join with the rest of what seemed to be the retired community pottering around the streets.

Ever popular than ever I’m proud to bring you another in my series of “Who’s the Band” and this week I bring you an interview with a local band in my area “Sunrise Sunset”, so I’m going to stop rambling on and get on with the interview..

Q: So how did you come upon the name of your band? Is it the first name you chose?

A: I used “Sunrise Sunset” as a username for a social networking website a few years previous to writing songs. It seemed to catch on as an alter ego to me so I thought I’d use it for my stage name. Read the rest of this entry »

Those that have followed my Twitter will have noticed that last night I went to Cineworld in Llandudno to see G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

GI JoeG.I. Joe (Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity) are an elite military unit of special ops that operate from a hidden base of operations known as “The Pit”, they take on an organization led by an arms dealer..

The film, directed by Stephen Sommers, who has previously directed The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and Van Helsing, so you can expect an action pact movie, I kid you not!

From start to finish this film will engulf you in an action overload and it never stops, weel it does, but it’s probably only for about 5-10 mins of the film, the rest of the film is pure unadulterated loud, big, explosions, plenty of chases, lots of gun fire and some pretty nifty FX.

The film is rated with a 12a in the UK and it probably needs it with the action that’s in it, so not really recommended for your small children that may have the toys at home, this is not a kids movie, it is though a movie that both guys and gals will enjoy, there is just enough going on in the film to keep you hooked.

I do have my niggles about the film though, but that’s just me, for starters I couldn’t help thinking of Sean Connery every time Christopher Eccleston spoke and there are a few continuity problems, such as the earing that “Heavy Duty” is wearing changing sides towards the end and the scar on the face of “Duke” that changes size though the film.

But besides these trivial faults the film is enjoyable with some cameos from some actors you will know, such as Branden Fraser and Kevin J O’connor, so if you’re looking for an intense, action packed movie to enjoy then this is certainly one to go and see…

Now this is a bit of local news for me, as I only live a few miles away, but it shocked me so I had to share it with you all reading this blog.

On the 20th October a local family David and Michelle Statham, 38 and 33, and their children Reece, 13, Jay, nine, Mason, 20 months, and Ellouise, 10 weeks, were tragically killed on the M6 motorway on their way back home to North Wales.

Now what makes this really sickening is that the push bikes of Reece and Jay who were origannly from Birmingham were stolen from their home in Llandudno. What goes through the mind of a child who steals bikes from a grieving family home.

The boy who is 16 has been given a 24 hour reparation order where he must make an apology to the Statham’s via writing.

The two bikes were taken from the Statham’s back garden only three days after their funeral while.

In a statement read to the court the children’s grandmother, Carole Hagans, said: “All of my family’s possessions are cherished.”

“I’m deeply upset that although recent events have been so publicised someone has targeted my family’s home and stolen the bicycles. This is a truly callous act.”

“I now don’t feel that I can leave the property empty as I’m fearful more possessions will be stolen.”

In his defense the boy said that he had no idea that the bikes belonged to the Statham’s and that after seeing the bike only “borrowed” it for a “short journey” and is sorry he upset the immediate family.

So what do you think, do you think his apology is enough? Or do you think the punishment should be more?
