Google Music is only one of the latest in a series of new cloud-based music services from major companies, including Amazon. These services, sometimes referred to as “music lockers”, allow web users to keep copies of their MP3 music files that they can access from anywhere and from any device, giving them the ability to play them at any time.

For music lovers, these services, especially the free ones, are enticing, but they also have their limitations. Rather than review a particular cloud music service, we thought it might be helpful for you to get an overview of the concept and examine some of the benefits and drawbacks of the services in general.

Pros

1. Portability – You can access your music anywhere. With some of the services, that includes your computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and any other web-connected devices. If you are frequently on the go and have many devices, this feature saves you time and memory space on your devices.

Those living in the UK have had a bit of short fall when it comes to downloading MP3s from Amazon.co.uk but recently Amazon announced that MP3 downloads are now available to download from Amazon.co.uk

This is great news for us “Brits” and now we can get to download tracks that little bit cheaper than iTunes, OK, so it may only be 10 or 20 pence a track cheaper, but, every little help when you download stacks of tracks and most of the albums are a lot cheaper to download from Amazon rather than iTunes.

I’ll be adding a Top Music Picks section over the next week so keep yours eyes peeled for that, but for the meantime, check out some of the Top Selling MP3 downloads over at Amazon at the moment ;)

If your like me you will have a great collection of Vinyl albums, with a slight crackle, that you can’t get on tape, minidisc or CD probably due to the fact that the release has been deleted, so you can either put the album on a tape, but how many people have tapes in their cars these days, or you can convert your LP direct to digital format!

The LP Saver is an ideal piece of kit for doing this it plugs directly into your computer via the USB socket and your away.

USBTurntable

The Turntable even comes with standard RCA cables to conect up to your standard sound system, now you can add your LPs to your iPod and even burn them onto CD to play in your car for example!

The LP Saver with play speeds of 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM so that should cover most peoples collection. All the necessary software comes with the turntable. In addition, not only can you convert your albums to MP3s or any other digital files, but the included software actually improves the quality of the recordings by eliminating some of the old pops, hisses and static they’ve acquired over the years. Finally, the tone arm returns to the armrest at the end of the record, just like old times.
