We’ve all been in the position where we’ve been taken in by a beautiful spot in the country, and want to have a weekend or a week break there – only to find it is hours away in the car. When this happens, you have to be ready to pick up the best albums in your house, load them onto your ipod and enjoy the journey.

But, what are the best albums to listen to? Are there certain picks that are better suited for travelling through the country? For example, The XX are more of a band to listen to in and around the city. Here we will have a look at a few to help you on your way when your en-route to one of the many Sykes Cottages around the United Kingdom.

Bruce Springsteen (Image via RottenTomatoes.com)

• Born To Run, Bruce Springsteen – Let’s face it, the song itself is enough reason to carry the whole album as you make your way through the country to the cottage that you will be enjoying. But, the full album is worth bringing along. Surprisingly, it only made number three in 1975, but it’s straight in the list. To be fair though, you could create your own Springsteen album to ensure that all the big songs from the years were involved – now, that would be priceless.

• Greatest Hits, Texas – Everybody has a memory of this being part of their life, and if you’re going through the country in the height of summer then this is the perfect album to go with your happy holidaying faces.

• Rumours, Fleetwood Mac – Going back to the Springsteen era, and this British-American rock band have to have a spot in the chars. With so many songs that hit the charts as singles, when they are brought together it is wondrous how good the band actually was – get your sing-a-long voice ready.

• Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys – You don’t have to be going to the beach to enjoy them but they are one of the finest bands to take with you to enjoy a car journey. Everyone knows how good they were and you can all dance in the car through the country as you enjoy the sounds of the Californian band.

• Lungs, Florence and the Machine – As we become a bit more modern, we move to this album that came out in July 2009. Getting to number one, there were so many singles in there that did the rounds – and are still going now. From “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)” to the often remixed “You’ve Got The Love”, there is so much on there to enjoy.
Now that you have a big five to take on your trip, you’ll be even keener to find country cottages to rent

. In fact, you’ll probably want to find them even further away so that you can enjoy these albums even more! Happy driving.

There were a lot of albums that came out this year that made waves – these are a few of the albums released that made an impression on me and are ones that I think you should check out (if you haven’t already)!

These are loosely based on sales numbers and Billboard rankings (though not really) and mostly based on how often I’ve heard these on the radio (and if I’ve yet to get sick of them).

Adele – 21

Yeah, I’ll say it. Adele has pipes. There is no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. The girl can sing! And for someone so young, she certainly is an old soul who knows how to sing about love, loss and heartbreak.

The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 100, and at it’s peak, was #1 in 24 countries. Worldwide sales have surpassed 13 million copies, and Adele is up for a Grammy for Song and Record of the Year, for “Rolling in the Deep” and 21, respectively.

The confessional-style sophomore album of Adele bears the influence of her extended stay in the United States with a touch of country and hip hop in her song structure and beats, though the bluesy elements that she was known for in her debut album, 19, remain intact. (If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, take a listen to “Rolling in the Deep” and you’ll hear the blues.)

Adele’s voice is always impressive, and 21 brought both her song writing and composition forward leaps and bounds.

Lady Gaga – Born This Way

Appropriately, many have said that Adele is the “anti-Gaga” in her lack of theatrics and hype. Surprisingly or not, 2011 was a benchmark year for both ladies.

Her second studio album, “Born This Way” runs the gamut from country (You + I) to disco. Gaga’s powerful voice and crazy antics only fuel the fire of whatever train this girl is on. And who knows what she is on – just take a look at one of her videos and ask yourself that question with every scene. And when you actually listen to the lyrics, take it all with a grain of salt – Lady Gaga is an artist with a sense of humor. Laugh a little!

But, all due respect to the artist, Gaga definitely has matured with this album…take a listen sometime! (And not just the singles, either).

Bon Iver – Bon Iver

Yet another second full length album, the self-titled Bon Iver brought this indie-folk band to the forefront of the US charts. It is often described as an “ambitious musical departure” from the band’s debut album.

If you haven’t head of Bon Iver, take a listen to their self-titled and much acclaimed second album. If nothing else, it’s likely to make you sit and listen to the lyrics for a few minutes.

Honorable Mentions

Yes, we’ve heard of Lady Gaga and Adele, but for those of you with more obscure leanings, here are a few other albums of 2011 that you should check out:

Jay-Z + Kanye West – Watch the Throne

Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues

Nerves Junior – As Bright as Your Night Light

Panda Bear – Tomboy

The Weekend – House of Balloons

EMA – Past Life Martyred Saints

Beastie Boys – Hot Sauce Committee

Enjoy your lyrical adventure back into 2011!

Megan is a music buff who never has the time to sit down and arrange playlists – and while not everyone should go see Kenny Chesney in concert, it’s always best to stretch and broaden your horizons, whatever your interests are!

Now I’ve always been a fan of the TV show Monkey Dust that used to be on BBC Three some years ago with it’s quirky characters and amazing music, this is the show that introduced me to the wonderful musical talents of Goldfrapp and Boards of Canada!

So since having a trusty iPod I’ve been collecting the tracks that have been on the several series that the show ran over and when I originally typed this post I had 22 tracks, now at my most recent count I have 56 tracks that were used over the three series on Monkey Dust, yes that many!

And now I’m calling on fans of the series and the music to help me out, if you know of any tracks that are not listed below that have been used in the Monkey Dust episodes, then please let me know so that I can complete my collection on my iTunes playlist, so here is my current updated list, thanks everyone

As the misheard song states, ‘Waking Up Is Hard To Do’, so we have put together the top 10 songs that are going to help you get out of bed. Some of these songs are loud, others are more fun, but all relate to getting your butt out of bed.

Also, you should recognize that if you need to just wake up without having a song related to mornings, take any track off of a death metal album, and set your volume to max. With this list, we’re going for a little bit more style than just sheer terror!

So in no particular order, here are the ten greatest wake-up songs:

10 – Rage Against The Machine – Wake Up – 6:05
It is always better to start a day with a bang. Rage Against The Machine’s call to arms for people to listen to what is going on beneath what the media tells you is the perfect alarm bell. The growling call to ‘Wake up!’ at the end of the song is better than a hot cup of coffee or cold water on the face.

9 – Extreme – Rise ‘n Shine – 6:24
Now that you have been shocked out of your evening’s torpor with Rage, we move onto something a little more relaxed. From the underappreciated classic ‘III Sides Of Every Story’ comes ‘Rise ‘n Shine’ which is actually part of a three song round. All of the interesting musical history of the song aside, this is an ideal song to start up your day with a gorgeous full ensemble of strings and woodwinds mixed with Nuno Bettencourt’s rock guitar.

8 – Maroon Five – Wake Up Call – 3:40
Moving from the rock into something a little more soulful and funky, Maroon Five gives us a little ditty about the singer finding his girl in bed with another man. It may not be your first choice for what you hear when you are trying to shake the dreams, but it is most definitely going to have your toes tapping, which might be all you need to not fall back asleep.

7 – The Beatles – Dear Prudence – 3:59
‘Here Comes The Sun’ or ‘A Day In The Life’ were both in contention, but I decided that one Beatles song is enough for this list. Dear Prudence is the perfect inspirational way to wake up and feel that there is a whole world out there for you to enjoy. With a beat that grows in intensity as you start to focus your eyes, this is arguably one of the most inspirational songs the Fab Four ever did.

6 – Wham! – Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go) – 3:51
There is something to be said about being annoyed into awakening. Paying attention to the song is guaranteed to get it deeply stuck into your head for the rest of the day. Then again, if this is your favorite period of music, then you might think this is an ideal choice. So whether this song is going to make you run out of your room with your fingers plugged in your ears, or dancing with your ‘Choose Life’ shirt, you are awake. Congratulations.

5 – The Proclaimers – I Will Walk (500 Miles) – 3:50
From the eighties earworms to the nineties, this song is another one of those classic songs that crawls into your head and won’t leave. The only difference between this and Wham! is that if you start singing the chorus aloud, five other people will immediately join in.

4 – Bob Marley and The Wailers – Wake Up and Live – 5:20
There has been a lot of rock and pop on this list, but not mentioning Bob Marley’s call out for people to rise up would be a crime against music. Reggae is surprisingly fantastic wake up music, with its strong brass and percussion, you just want to get up and move to the rhythm while you get your day started.

3 – Alabama 3 – Woke Up This Morning – 4:06
At first you might look at this title and have no idea what it is, but unless you have lived under a rock for the last decade, you have heard this song. It is the opening credits to the hit show ‘The Sopranos’. Featuring that deep bass voice, and the mix of blues, techno, and rock, this song has a lot going on to keep you occupied while you are trying to find the outside of your eyelids.

2 – System Of A Down – Chop Suey – 3:55
A metal anthem in a similar style to the Beatles ‘Day In The Life’, not only does this song feature amazingly strong vocals yelling at you to ‘Wake up, grab your brush and put on a little make up’ – it is loud, heavy, and if at the end of this song you aren’t out of bed, you are legally dead in three states.

1 – Sonny & Cher – I Got You Babe – 2:50
This song made the list, not because of its substance, but because of its place in the history of waking up. A little movie called ‘Groundhog Day’ featured Bill Murray waking up to this song every morning for, what we can assume, years. Every time you heard this song it was a sign that Bill was waking up for another fantastic morning in Gobbler’s Knob.

This was a guest post by John for Russell Hobbs – browse our range of coffee machines if you need a little something extra to wake you up in the morning!

Many moons ago, when I originally set up the Inde Net Label Atom Sounds, I did several reviews of the artists on the label, so I thought I would bring you a review that I posted up of the album See The Light by Bob Evans.

Those needing some culture will certainly find it on Bob’s album “See the Light”, with great guitar work and soothing beats to some nice rock/country sounding tracks.

Now I will openly admit that upon first hearing the title track “See the Light” on the Atom Sounds CD, I thought to myself, here is an artist that has a god given talent and that talent is Bob’s vocals tied into some amazing guitar work.

“See the Light” consists of twelve tracks and each track on the album has that Bob Evans feel, but at the same time each track is different from the next, a change these days. The CD opens with the immensely toe tapping title track “See the Light” and from that point on it just gets better.

Blues, country, rock it’s all here, Bob’s lyrics have a feeling that they were written with a pure feel to compliment the music and they do the job perfectly. Bob’s voice becomes an instrument in it’s own right, accompanying each track with passion.

The CD also includes the great “Nimrod ‘The Hunter’” a rather superb instrumental track that shows the talent that is Bob Evans, along with other tracks such as “Love Is Where You Find It” which has a great feel to it, “On A Knife Edge” and my favourite “Journey Back Home” with that sound of thunder that makes you look outside your window.

CD production is really well done with a nicely designed cover of Bob faded into a moon scene, track list on the inner and rear sleeve, the CD itself has a great sound to it, with crystal clear sound production, which really help with the low pitches of some other guitar notes, so you don’t miss a thing.

If you haven’t heard Bob’s music then I highly recommend you track out his website for some of his other tracks.

Overall Bob has produced a wonderful sounding CD that even if it’s not your genre of music you will enjoy it, “See the Light” will want you to come back for more.

As a lot of you who read Blazing Minds will know, from time to time I get the chance to review some new music by some amazing artists. The other day I was sent the new forthcoming EP from the band In Darklight, you may have seen the review I did of their album “Dying To Confess” so I was over the moon to get a chance to hear and review their latest work.

Tell me more about the In Darklight EP!

The “In Darklight EP” features five tracks: Slaves, Turn Your Back, Break, Quick Fire and Greenhouse, all of which have that In Darklight sound and feel that I’ve become accustomed to since first hearing them on the album I reviewed some time back.

What appeals to me with In Darklight and specially with this EP is the quality of the recordings, they are top quality with the sound production being spot on with plenty of power for me to have the music blasting out of my 1,000 watt system and still keeping any distortion away.

What about the music?

I can’t fault In Darklight, ok I have to admit that I have become a fan of theirs and being that I love this sound that they produce, I couldn’t really pick up on a point that I could put them down on. It’s great, everything I like to here great guitars, banging drums and vocals that actually have well written lyrics, which all of which can be hard to find these days, even with those big named bands that are making millions from their music.

Picking one particular track from the five here on this EP and saying it’s my favourite is such a hard choice as they are all great, but I would have to go for the last track Greenhouse, there is just something about the track that when I’m listening to it, it just stands out more than the others and it’s probably the one that I’ve played the most.

But don’t get me wrong every track on this release is worth listening to over and over again, they’re certainly played a lot on my iPod in the car with the windows down on a nice sunny day

OK, OK! Where can I get my hands on this EP?

The will officially be released on 15th August from your favourite stores such as Amazon (pre-order now), iTunes, Napster, Spotify and OVI Nokia

So if your looking for some fresh sounding music and something new, then this is certainly a release that you should check out.

Also if you want to hear and download some of their older work then you can by visiting the official In Darklight website.

Overall rating 10/10

Humans use all our senses to perceive the world around us.

As newborns, it is touch, smell, and sound that provide the signals we need. Parents themselves are hard-wired to react to the cries of their child; a baby in distress is a powerful sound that makes adults run – in one direction or the other. Our ancestors relied on sound for important signals that were crucial to survival, and our emotional response to different types of sound explains the roots of language development.

So it should come as no surprise that sound plays a huge role in the emotional effectiveness of visual entertainment, even though most people don’t realise how they are being influenced. Next time you watch a movie or TV show, try to keep your ears open as well as your eyes. It isn’t always as obvious as the dramatic, emotional soundtracks to important scenes. Pick out the little motifs used to define the characters and places. Listen out for sound bridges between scenes that help you understand what you are meant to be feeling.

Sound, Emotion and the Big Screen is a post from Blazing Minds Copyright 2008-2011.

In the evolution of music for film and the big screen, live piano players in theatres were quickly replaced with pre-recorded soundtracks and then acted voice recordings by the performers themselves. How many theatre pianists got it ‘right’ every time? For a short while they had the power to completely change the intended emotional effect of any scene simply by picking a different cadence, tempo or key.

The developments in recording technology were a great relief to the directors and producers of the day, giving them full and unprecedented control of the emotional power of sound in their productions.

The way sound can completely alter your experience of a visual scene is easy to test:

Try the famous race scenes from Chariots of Fire with Stockhausen instead of the original Vangelis soundtrack. The emotional effects were glorious, inspirational and victorious; we feel that the runners are truly magnificent. With our alternative soundtrack, viewers are more likely to feel pained, disturbed or even feel sorry for the runners – suddenly, it looks like it hurts.

Replace Wagner’s The Ride of the Valkyries in Apocalypse Now with The Birdie Song. The original is epic, dramatic and powerful to the point of terror. Our remixed version is extremely surreal and dream-like, and also brings feelings of the comedic and ludicrous. Are we supposed to be laughing?

How about the fight scenes in The Matrix to the soundtrack of some nice Irish Folk ballads? Or try and come up with a few of your own.

Next time you are watching something, just consider how much of what you are feeling is actually down to what you are hearing.

Hugh Laurie has had a fairly varied career, especially with his award winning role in House. However, for British people he will always be synonymous with comedies Fry & Lauria & Jeeves & Wooster. His plummy British accent has been replaced though recently with an American accent on House and now in Let Them Talk, his debut album, he sounds about as Americana blues as any posh English man possibly could.

Throughout his career, especially in the early days on Fry & Laurie, Hugh has played the piano, and on Let Them Talk he brings his skills to bear. He’s helped along the way by the likes of Irma Thomas on John Henry and Baby Please Make a Change, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Dr. John on After You’ve Gone, and Welsh crooner Sir Thom Jones on Baby Please Make a Change.

Let Them Talk is Hugh Laurie’s homage to New Orleans and the blues. It’s attention to detail and dedication to the sound of the American south is apparent in every song. It’s lovingly crafted, and a refreshing change from the norm of modern music releases.

Everyone should have a little blues on their music players once in a while and Let Them Talk is a good introduction. While it’s not as memorable as the works of Muddy Waters that get mentioned in the inner sleeve booklet, but it’s an good reworking of an old school musical style.

A recent study entitled “The Do Re Mi’s of Everyday Life: The Structure and Personality Correlates of Music Preferences” found that there is a direct correlation between one’s musical preferences and his personality type. They categorized music personalities into four groups – Reflective and Complex, Intense and Rebellious, Upbeat and Conventional, Energetic and Rhythmic. Combining this information with the Myers Briggs Personality Types, which guide career choices based on one’s personality traits, one can correlate musical preference with occupation. So, while you may be considering a nursing degree, criminal justice degree, or it degree, think about what kind of music you like and how that may relate to a possible career path.

Ahhh summer – that time of year when we’re supposed to be blessed with the archaic rays of the sun. A time for fun, laughter and BBQs, a time for drinking, lots of food and, above all, listening to music in your car. Come-on, you know you do it; we’ve all done it. The second the first ray hits the pavement, we’re all out with our three-quarter length combats, awful River Island sunglasses and music blasting from our car speakers. So, with that being said, here’s some of the best driving music for summer.

The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff – Summertime

“Summer, summer, summertime!” – is this song the most summer-related and universally loved warm-weather track on the planet? It could well be, and it’s all thanks to a pre-Hollywood Will Smith aka The Fresh Prince, and his DJ, Jazzy Jeff. 1991 was the year when this iconic summer track hit radio and we’ve been getting our hip-hop on ever since.

It’s not hard to see why summertime was such a big hit. The beat just sounds like a BBQ in July with Hayfever sufferers suffering, kids playing in the park and alcohol being served. It’s a timeless track that deserves a place in your iPod!

Bryan Adams – Summer of ’69

Like him or loathe him, Bryan Adams knows how to make a hit so biblical that it resonates across generations and decades. His music continues to inspire and sell in its millions, but without hits like Summer of ’69, his legacy wouldn’t have become what it is today.

Anyone with speakers in their car needs to listen to this track on a summer’s day.

Grease – Summer Lovin’

Cheese Alert, Cheese Alert!!! If you’re allergic to cheesy, pop anthems then it would be best if you skipped this one, but for any fans of John Travolta, Olivia Newton John and young love, then the Summer Lovin’ song from Grease will be sure to get you in the mood for a lovely warm day.

With innocent love undertones and sexual innuendo, Summer Lovin’ is the perfect anthem for anyone in love, looking for love and for those looking back at old times.

Phantom Planet – California

Picture the scene: a Corvette, you naked, a woman/man naked in the passenger seat, top down, windows down, driving through the Nevada desert on your way to sunny California. What would make that superlative-worthy trip any better? The happy sounding, feel-good track from Phantom Planet called California – obviously!

If you’ve never heard of them or it, give the track and go and it’ll get in your head in no time.

Drake – Unforgettable

This is one for the lovers of hip-hop music. Drake, who has become one of the hottest rappers, can also sing very well, and with Unforgettable, he creates a song that is full of warm beats and nostalgic lyrics that will keep you pondering several notions while you drive along in the summer heat.

There are naughty swear words in the song, but it’s a great track from a multi-talented artist who uses his brain more than his brawn.

Well now that you have the tunes, you will need the car to blare them out! If you need help finding a new or used car in the UK be sure to check out Netcars.com.

It’s been a little while since I posted up a music review, so I thought it was about time that I got on down to writing one and just at the right time as the news of a re-release of the 2004 album Cocktail by Carlos Wilde.

Some years back in those early days of me surfing around the internet and producing my own music, yes I still do that as well, I got to know a lot of artists through a lot of the social music networks and one of those artists was Carlos Wilde and the one thing that I never got to do was get my hands on his debut album Cocktail, shame on me!

Then just as I wanted to get a copy the website that was selling the album ceased and so it was a case of having only a couple of tracks of his music.

But, recently Atom Sounds has announced the re-release of the album on Bandcamp and I was lucky enough to get a copy of the album from Carlos, though this album is now available as a pre-order and isn’t available in full until the 1st June, you get two tracks with your pre-order, now how cool is that

Anyway on to the album, though this album was originally released in 2004, it’s still got such a powerful and fresh sound to it, with the distinct vocals from Carlos and collaborations with artist such as Mezzer, Nicki Nova to name but two, this album is something that can be played over and over again.

The album includes 10 tracks with each track giving the listener a joyful joiner of sound from start to finish and ending with an amazing club version, it has to be one of those albums that just wants you to spin it over and over again.

I’m glad that this album has been re-released it’s a crime that quality like this had to be lost from those that love music so much, it’s been lost too long and now hopefully Carlos Wilde will gain new fans for his musical talents, I for one am proud to say that I have the superb Cocktail in my music collection.

You can stream the album at SoundCloud and at Last.fm, so stop by and check it out and don’t forget to order your copy from BandCamp

I recently started an unofficial MySpace boycott as a result of their decision to remove the ability to search by location. As a local music reviewer for my city, I turn to online resources when seeking new bands to write about. When MySpace launched their revamped site late last year, they altered their advanced search and omitted the special feature that allowed a searcher to navigate at a local level. Enraged with frustration, I emailed and asked what had happened to my beloved zip code search field, to which they simply replied “We’re sorry. That function no longer exists.”

This painful realization has given me no choice but to experiment with a new medium: Reverb Nation. The website has been around for a while, but it wasn’t until I needed to find new local bands that I decided to complete my profile and become an active member of their community. Since then, I’ve come to realize that the niche website actually provides more benefits to both the musician and the reporter than MySpace. Read on to see why.

General Search

As I mentioned, being able to find bands by location is essential for a blogger who only covers events local to their city. Furthermore, musicians who are seeking like-minded bands to schedule and play gigs with will want to be able to search by zip code. Reverb Nation sorts the returns of a general search query by artists, venues, and labels and then allows a deeper search of on-page content if you still can’t find what you’re looking for.

Browsing

Reverb Nation lets its users search in a variety of ways. Browse bands by musical genre. Search artists by name, genre, profile media, and location. Search songs by title or lyrics. Search for shows by date, artist, genre, or location. Search for venues by location. Search labels and management by name. Even look for other fans based off of their musical preferences and location.

Stream music while searching

I frequently query for local shows. Organized by date, a list of artists performing is returned. If that particular artist has uploaded media to their profile (and honestly, what credible working musician wouldn’t have their songs posted?), Reverb Nation lets you play that song directly from within the vertical search results. The music player (which permanently resides in the upper right corner) will stream the song uninterrupted, even as the browser advances to a new page.

Artist Tool Kit

Though I’m not a musician myself, I see limitless advantages to maintaining an artist profile on Reverb Nation. I respect the tools that Reverb Nation gives to bands and artists to keep them more organized, as well as to offer recommendations for quality service providers; I bet MySpace never told musicians how to find a good intellectual property attorney. Furthermore, Reverb Nation provides an effective structure to the information that bands make publically available. For this reason, the extensive tool kit provided by Reverb Nation indirectly makes my job easier because I can find newsworthy information in the same place every time, no matter which artist I’m researching.

An Album That Sneaks Up On You

I have to admit “Wide Open Space” has a sound that sneaks up on you. Over the past few months I’ve been listening to various tracks of other music by Remergence but never listened to anything from start to finish. Yes, I would listen to songs from start to finish, but when it came to listening to a complete album, I never stuck with just one. Instead I jumped from album selection to album selection listening to a track here and a track there.

When I finally decided to listen to something by Remergence from start to finish, I was not disappointed at all. Now here I am writing a review of “Wide Open Space”. As mentioned in the heading, “Wide Open Space” sneaks up on you. The title cut starts off rather quiet. It almost makes you strain to hear what’s going on. It’s a very effective method of grabbing the listener right out of the gate. However, as you move from track to track, there’s a great build up of sounds. The amazing thing is, the subtle ebb and flow of various sounds actually end up reaching out at times through your speakers grabbing your attention and demanding you listen. In what’s probably best described as a techno-pop sound, “Wide Open Space” is captivating from start to finish.

An Album That Keeps You Guessing

Through the years as a radio announcer and disc jockey, I’ve heard a wide variety of music. I started in radio when I was 17 and now with over 30 years experience in broadcasting, lets just say I’ve heard it all. When an album suddenly takes a turn into an area of the unexpected, it gets my attention. “Wide Open Space” does just that. As the tracks moved from one to another I first thought it was all instrumental. Imagine my surprise when I heard vocals in the midst of some of the tunes. But, the brilliance and genius in the making of this album revolves around the fact that even the vocals are subtle. Nothing jumps out at you, instead you’re quietly pulled into this multi-dimensional style of music.

Over all, I have to admit “Wide Open Space” by Remergence is worth the buy and worth the listen. At times captivating and at other times haunting, “Wide Open Space” demands your attention and makes you sit up in your chair so you don’t miss anything that’s going on with the sound. Some might call the music complicated. For those I would have to say you’re missing the point of the driving force behind “Wide Open Space”. Like the title says, there are many wide open spaces in the world of music and in the world around us. This album explores some of those spaces while at the same time filling other spaces in with sounds that pull you in saying “Come take a listen so I can entice you into a quiet reflective mood”.

I know I for one am looking forward to the next offering from Remergence and I hope it comes sooner than later.

Dr. Rus

Since posting this article when iTunes V9 originally came out, a lot of people seem to be still having the problem with upgrading their old downloaded tracks, so I thought I would repost this article. This information still works for version of iTunes from 9 upwards.

Those of us that have upgraded to the latest incarnation of iTunes may of noticed that the option to upgrade previously purchased tracks to the iTunes Plus versions has disappeared from the iTunes music store page.

Some users do have the option in the iTunes store page at the top right of the screen under quick links and others don’t, some can even get the option back by signing out of their account and then signing back in again, but for the majority of iTunes users the link to the iTunes Plus Upgrade page has gone, never to return.

If you do want to find the page to upgrade your previously purchased iTunes store tracks then simply follow this link to the iTunes Plus Upgrade page and you can then be able to upgrade your tracks to that better quality.

Hope this helps
