The other day I had a text on my phone offering me the opportunity to enable my Orange mobile phone to also use the T-Mobile network when the Orange network isn’t available.

This is all available due to the fact that Orange and T-Mobile are now together, now I’m not too sure how this will affect my signal as I do go to some places on my travels that only seem to pick up Vodaphone signals, but saying that, I’ve not been on T-Mobile before to see if I can get their signal in those areas.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Call and text in even more places

Now you can pick up a signal from both the Orange and T-Mobile networks in the UK which means that you can call and text in even more places.

Your phone will use T-Mobile signal if it doesn’t pick up an Orange signal

Your charges stay the same when you use T-Mobile signal

Nothing else will change, you’ll just get more network coverage

My main concern with all this was the dreaded word “Charges!”, but after reading the info supplied by Orange, all charges are the same as those for Orange when you’re roaming on T-Mobile, so that’s a relief.

So now I have my BlackBerry Curve with 300 free texts, 100MB surfing and roaming with T-Mobile all for £10 a month, sounds good to me

Over the next few days I will be trying out my phone more often and checking to see how the roaming performs with T-Mobile and Orange working together, so keep your eye peeled and I’ll update this post with how I get on

So the iPhone 3GS is finally going to be available on the Orange network on the 10th November, but at what cost? And what are the options for those that wish to surf the net and use the iPhone to its full advantage?

Well the basic 8GB model on Pay As You Go (PAYG) will set you back £343 and a fair usage policy of 750MB, now personally I think the price isn’t that bad, but, the usage seems a bit low to me, surely with the way people use mobiles theses days for surfing the net, tweeting, checking emails and FaceBook etc. this seems a tad tight to me and should be either doubled or unlimited.

Of course you can also pay monthly, but, you still only get 750MB of fair usage!

So is it better to get your iPhone with O2 or wait for another service provider to start selling the iPhone in the UK?

The title of this post is a question that I have seen several times in my blogs stats, so I thought I would take the opportunity to shine a bit of light on those, that like myself, are on the Orange network.

So the simple answer to the question “Is twitter free on orange dolphin” is NO, but there is a fantastic way around it and I use it myself to tweet with my orange phone that is now on the dolphin tariff.

So how can it be done?

For starters you will need to join Ping.fm which is a free site that enables you to update all your social networks, including Twitter, in one go..

From here you will be able to add all the social networks that you belong to and most importantly you will be able to set up your phone to SMS direct to Ping.fm, then post your text to the social networks of your choice.

Now the great thing about this is that due to the number that you send your messages to been a UK number you will not get charged for your text when you are on the Orange Dolphin tariff.

So if you do a lot of tweeting via your mobile phone the best way is to set your Orange phone on the dolphin tariff, join Ping.fm and then let loose
