OK folks a little something special for you today, those that read the Blazing Minds blog will have seen me mention Point FM several times and particularly when I was interviewed by them at Apollo Cinemas Rhyl about my movie reviews. So I thought it would be great to turn the tables around and interview Dan Porter here on the Blazing Minds blog, now if only I could get one with Mark Pike as well ;) ;)

Dan kindly agreed to have an interview, with added mug shots, for the Blazing Minds blog and I’m so glad he agreed as you’ll see from the interview Dan is a scream and a really nice guy as it happens

So please enjoy the interview with Dan Porter.

Blazing Minds Interviews Dan Porter From Point FM And Teen FM

Karen:  Hi Dan, tell us a little about yourself.

Dan: Hi, I’m Dan… obviously. That’s not a very good way to start, I’ll  start again. I am 20 years old, born in Walsall and moved to Rhyl 7 -  8 years ago, and present on a local radio station for North Wales called Point FM also back in 2007 I founded an internet radio station  Teen FM. My passion has always lay within radio, I have worked in amusement arcades, cafes & shops and disliked every single one!

I am usually the one who gets bullied…. (aww), in the past year I  have been thrown in the deep end of a swimming pool live on radio, had  my legs waxed twice… live on radio and also shuffled in front of  a lot amount of people, youtube it, its amazing!.

Karen: Tell us about your Record Breaking achievement?

Those of you that have read my blog often will have seen the collection of movie reviews that I have recently been posting, with the most recent movies all been viewed at my local Apollo cinema in Rhyl.

The Future Is Here!

The future of Rhyl’s entertainment is certainly getting a good kick-start with the Apollo cinema giving the town a much-needed breath of life. With the use of modern technology going in leaps and bounds, bringing 3D, live shows, sports events and much more.

But it doesn’t stop there the Apollo cinema is growing with a reputation for bringing top quality entertainment to the public and with more plans in the pipeline to expand on the entertainment for people living in the surrounding area to enjoy.  Bring it on I say ;)

So recently I had the privilege of having a talk with Craig Miller and Alison Hogarth about the cinema and it’s future. The future is really looking good for the Apollo Cinema and Craig mentioned to me many plans in the pipeline which do sound extremely interesting, with the cinema expanding further and hopefully utilizing the Children’s Village which sits next to it. I’m really looking forward to seeing how all this pans out.

Suffice to say there are some great plans coming in the near future and the Apollo cinema is certainly something that Rhyl has needed for a while, a good kick up the backside.

Bigger, Bolder & Better Apollo Cinema Rhyl

So a couple of weeks a go, I received a special invite from Alison Hogarth to attend a special evening at The Apollo Cinema Rhyl, how could I say no!

Last night was the night and arriving at the cinema at just gone 6PM and checking my name was down on the exclusive guest list, I was given a goody bag and went straight to the bar ;)

Apollo Cinema Rhyl

Greeted With A Tasty Beverage

Entering the bar everyone was drinking champagne, so grabbed my flute and sat down to ponder what was happening for the evening, I must say I did feel a little under dressed for the occasion, but hey, I’m an almost famous blogger not a big shot business person

Many a follower of my twitter has noticed that I frequently mention Boswells and several have asked what it is, so I thought I would post on the blog on what and where Boswells is.

Boswells cafe bar in Rhyl is my local haunt where I really enjoy their wonderful Cappuccinos and I’m usually in there two or three times a week to meet up with friends or to just get my Cappuccino fix ;)

Children's Village in Rhyl

In it’s hayday, Rhyl was the wonder of North Wales with it’s family run Funfair which has been removed for complex of flats that have not been built, outside pool, donkey rides and much more. But as you can see from the picture that I took the other day, things are not looking good for Rhyl.

I remember when the Children’s Village was first built and this was original a lovely blue fountain that  rose up from the underground carpark under the village and it was very nice, but now look at it!
