If like me you are one the many that has moved away from the likes of Internet Explorer and Firefox in favour of the faster and more streamline Google Chrome, then you may be missing a few of your favourite plugins.

One plugin that many have mentioned in the past for FireFox and Internet Explorer was the Alex Toolbar and a lot have said that having the toolbar helps improve your Alexa ranking.

There is a selection of Chrome Extensions for Alexa, but up until recently, I’m not sure how recently, the Alexa toolbar wasn’t really available for the Chrome browser.

Anywho ;) I was over at Alexa checking out my stats etc and there were several sections saying that they were only visible with the Toolbar! “Oh Great” I thought, but on the off-chance I surfed to the Toolbar page to see if they had one for Chrome yet.

There it was on Alexa a version for my trusted Chrome.

Improve Your Alexa Rank

So now you can have a handy icon on your Chrome browser that when clicked will give you the information for the website you are visiting without leaving the site. Hovering the icon will show you the websites Alexa Traffic Rank and clicking on it will show you the info from Alexa on the site you are on.

Alexa Toolbar on Chrome

But Does This Improve Your Alexa Rank?

Well as you surf the internet the Alexa Chrome Extension will improve the ranking of the sites you visit, so in theory, as you visit your own blog writing comments, posting article and so on, you will be improving your Alexa rank.

So every little bit of surfing helps, I know what your thinking, why is improving your Alexa rank important?

Alexa is usually one of the first places that advertisers check to find out information about your website, so having a few nice stats does help you out and having the Alexa toolbar pulling in info for your site does help.

Also by using this it will also help Alexa build your related links as you visit a site and it has a link to yours, click on that link this will show the toolbar that a site is linking and vice versa ;)

So there you go. Now I’m not an expert on these things, but I do know that when I used to use the Internet Explorer Alexa toolbar I did see a difference in my blogs Alexa ranking. So hopefully if Alexa Traffic Rank for Chrome acts in the same way, I should start seeing some improvements over the next few weeks or months.

The other day I had a tweet from @benbarden asking if I had seen a new feature on CMF Ads, so I shot over to take a look at this new feature which I found on my dashboard, the new feature is called “Spikes”.

So I thought it would be a good idea to bring the readers of my blog a little bit of information about this new feature.

Ok, so I’ve mentioned this early in my last post, but now I have an update for you, I have just joined PayingPost, which allows you to take opportunities to review websites, products and much more and best of all you get paid for doing it.

Get paid to blog

I found the site while surfing the net and decided yesterday to join up, so, I simply filled in my details, name, blog URL, PayPal Address (to get paid) and then that was it and then just waited for my blog to be approved, now with sites like these I’ve waited up to and over a week to be approved, but, this morning I got an email letting me know that my blog had been approved, how quick is that, fast or what ;)

The site is very easy to navigate and it’s quick, you select which opportunities you wish to do and then your off to type your review etc, this to me is probably one of the easiest and straight forward sites that I have seen for a while and is ideal to find a great selection of advertising for blogs.

So my advice would be to get on over to PayingPost and sign up your blog today and they even have a section advertisers so they can also Advertise on PayingPost blog network.

Now I’ve been using ping.fm for quite a while now since it was in it’s beta stage, but now it has come out of beta and is live.

First of all let me tell you what ping.fm actually does, once you join ping.fm you can add your social network websites such as Plurk, Bebo, Twitter, Myspace and many more. Adding this will enable you to update your statuses on these and other sites in one go, also you can create posts for micro-blogs and standard blog entries, enabling you to spend less time updating the many social sites that you may belong to.

So how do you promote your website using ping.fm?
Simple really when you update your website/blog make sure you use ping.fm to update your social networks this will add links to your website from your social networks and as most have a fair amount of friends on their social networks anyway, this will promote you site to them as well as people who may be browsing the networks, sending you new readers/visitors to your site.
