Everything you wrote makes sense, but getting traffic to an advice column is a bit more difficult I believe. People love to talk about themselves and get a different perspective on their issues, but how does one go out and say HEY, GO TO THIS SITE AND TELL ME ALL YOUR PROBLEMS….? I’ve had one bite and at this rate I’ll die of lonliness…..:-)

Hey am looking for ways to improve traffic to my site and your words of wisdom on Blazing Minds will help no end… I have SEO enabled and am working on some content, am going to base it on my experience in Science and Technology and the weird world of cults and current affairs. All the comments on here helped too so thanks to everyone on here…

Unique content is first requirement for good traffic and for making a best quality after this it require to do off page. I think blog commenting in niche blogs is good option.

Excellent post. I have only just begun to sift through some of the blogging community. I have made useful and thoughtful comments and had just a handful replies, and pretty much zero return visits.

I do think it is important for a two way channel to work if it is kept up by both parties!

I’m also not sure how SEO works any longer but as the above poster said, probably better for niche material

Great article.

As far as using SEO words, I think it works best for niche articles rather than personal blog posts. I’ve noticed that I have a higher bounce rate when I use SEO words to draw traffic to my blog.

I agree that the commenting is a biggie. But once you bring someone new to your site, you need to visit their site to reciprocate. So, follow up is also important.

Is it better to respond to a reader’s comment at my site or to send him/her a personal email?

Consistency. It seems that the people who figure out that consistency is the key ingredient to what they want out of life are also successful in blogging.

Interesting. Be interesting. I guess I’ve always been pretty interesting… and I’m finding the more I bring that out in my blog, the more people subscribe and start following me.

The rules in this post… they must be done as well. But you can do all of that you want without the above two and I think lack of readers is still going to be an issue!

My traffic is really great. My first month proved to be a success and I am lookin forward to better months ahead.

Most my traffic comes from others sites thati comment on. So commenting on other blogs is a must
for me
