Adwords can generate some income, but I agree it is organic links that are going to create long term success. I am putting my toe in the water with article submissions, and blog commenting but realise it will take time and effort to get serious traffic. Your post summed up my niave impression of adwords when I first launched the site. i.e. Google would be my only avenue and it would work, unfortunately it wont.

Traffic is most definitely where it's at in terms of a successful website. Success really doesn't have to be measured by money, either. When you think about it, it's not worth having a website if you aren't getting any traffic. based on my experience, it is hard to hit top google keywords. i mean it is hard to rank high with top google keywords.
but i don’t even know what is hiburitto websites? if i know more about it, maybe i could make any suggestion about it

Your advice is excellent, and I'm very happy I came across this post. I like the discussion of investment vs. return, and the gambles one might have to take, versus using articles to build trust over time with a specific audience (and some credibility with search engines, too). Targeted traffic will always be better than generic traffic but you make a good point because you could have a relatively small amount of traffic but because they are targeted they convert well or a lot of untargeted traffic that doesn't convert as well but because you get a lot of traffic the visitors you convert are many. I think I would personally check sites like twitter for the latest keyword trends and also do a search for top Google keywords and find what people are searching for and then create a couple of WOPS that utilize those keywords for the search engines…

I have a local customer that has spent over fifteen thousand dollars at a time using AdWords with very little results. You are absolutely right when you say it takes research and knowledge. It’s a very risky game if you toss too much money at it before you’re ready. Now that same business spends between ten and twenty grand a month and they are doing very well. It was a very expensive education.

I also pay for advertising spots in a few related sites but that seems to be a very limited source of traffic but I do think it helps with branding.

My favorite source of targeted and active traffic is commenting on related blogs. I always pick blogs that I actually enjoy reading to be certain the comments are sincere and real. Most bloggers will see right through the spammy comments. Personally, I ban those after two or three attempts. I love article marketing too.
