Now this is a controversial point for a lot of bloggers and readers of blogs, the dreaded word “Toolbar“, but hang on a minute let me finish, those of you who visit my blog often will know about the Wibiya Toolbar that runs at the bottom of Blazing Minds and I have personally found that it has helped reduce my bounce rates since it was installed.

I have tried to make it match the colours of the site and it fits nicely at the bottom the blog, not bothering anybody, but for those that look a little closer at it will notice that I have some handy little featuring running on it and recently I add some of the newer features that Wibiya have added to their site for Toolbar users to use.

My Wibiya Toolbar now has a Digg button, which hopefully should start showing visitor how many time a post has been Dugg as well as the option to Digg the post themselves, once clicked it opens anew window, so the readers doesn’t have to leave the blog, nice.

Secondly I have added a Content Timeline, now this is my favourite, when clicked a new overlay will appear allowing visitors to search though the blog for blog posts as quick as a flash.

Wibiya Toolbar Content Timeline

Though you are limited to the amount of posts in your [intlink id="subscribe" type="page"]blogs RSS feed[/intlink], 15 for mine, it is still great for quick access, clicking on any of the posts will bring up an information box showing you some details about that post.

Also not forgetting some of the other button on the toolbar such as Sharing posts on social networks, a Twitter Dashboard, FaceBook Page integration and several more options, which I’m going to let you explore ;)

So just by adding these options with a Wibiya Toolbar you could reduce your bounce rate on your blog as well as get some more going on with your readers of your blog, it’s working for me so why don’t you give it a shot ;)

  2. I personally feel interlink is a better way than anything else to reduce bounce rate. Another good way is, using outgoing link on bottom part of the article. Anyway nice tips to reduce bounce rate.

I was looking for something like this for my blog the other day. I wasn’t sure what it was called though. I like the idea, but I’ve seen nicer looking “sticky footers.” There is a website I go to for a lot of graphics, coding and themes. There is a $6 sticky nav that is coded for you. If you’re interested I’ll send you the link. I didn’t want to post it in here and be considered spam.

This is great! I’ve seen the toolbars around, but wasn’t able to easily find information on the toolbar! I think this it is a feature to not have Wibiya promoting all over the bar! Thanks for the heads up, you’ll be seeing it on my site now!

    Hi Karen,

I’ve seen a reduction in my bounce rate too since I installed the tool bar. I ‘ve doubled my RSS subscribers which is a pleasant surprise. I might add the Digg option now too.

    Thanks!

You know me and my toolbars, all though the one your using is probably one of the nicer ones I have seen. Of course thats because you took the time to put it together and make the proper setting adjustments to get it there.

OK – where did your wibbar go? I don’t see it here on today’s visit. I’ve noticed it doesn’t always show up on my blog, although I too have installed it. Another thing: since installing wib and linkwithin, my sitemeters aren’t counting all the visitors! How do I know? One of them (I use three) has been recording 45% more hits than the other two. And if I visit my own blog, 2 out of 3 visits aren’t getting picked up by the sitemeters! I thought I was losing traffic, but evidently that’s not the case.

Regarding Entrecard: it’s wonderful! I’ve been blessed by visitors from Canda and Netherlands who have stayed onsite up to 9 hours at a clip! (which has boosted my “time spent on site” stats!) They’ve both been INTERACTIVE when on my blog as well!

    Nice post, Karen!
I use this toolbar as well with a similar set-up. You’ve given me a couple of new elements to try out though, which is cool.

Credit where credit is due, I found out about this when Ileane had a podcast on it and went to get it the same day. :-) I was never really a big fan of toolbars but this one is great, with a lot of helpful features and not just a bunch of gadgets.

I had not paid much attention to my bounce rate since installing to be honest. Hopefully it has helped. :-)

    Thanks for the info.
