Web Hosting Ratings – A Site For Checking Out Those Hosts!
Posted by Karen in UncategorizedThis is sponsored post written by myself on behalf of WebHostingRating.com and all opinions are 100% mine.
If you are new to having your own website it can be a little daunting on finding the right host for your needs and most importantly your pocket, word of mouth can be extremely useful and I have mentioned my hosts several times in the past, but sometimes that’s just not good enough, specially if you don’t know the person or they are giving you an affiliate link.
Recently I was asked to check out a website called Web Hosting Rating which seems to have a huge choice of reviews of hosting providers from around the globe with unedited web hosting reviews and ratings by real customers.
So I endeavoured to check out the website, upon first loading the site you are shown the best top 10 hosts of 2010, which in itself is very useful, giving you a clear and concise view of price, space, traffic and rating.
Searching for a certain host is easy with a simple search box in the top right of the website, but what I found very useful was a selection of options with tick boxes on the left of the screen which enable you to precisely search your website hosting requirements and then search the complete catalogue for your needs, such as location, hosting type and price range.
As you can see from the image on your right it does have a good choice of options and ones which most of us setting up a new website and looking for a host find extremely useful to use.
Other options on the site are choosing what you would like your site hosted for, such as WordPress, Joomla, phpBB, Drupal and much more.
After perusing these options and looking around for a while, I decided to give the site a bit of a test, so in the Search Host Catalog I selected the options, Europe, Windows Hosting and Under $5 to see what results they would yield.
They resulting in no results, which is really what I expected from such a small range, so I opened up the range to include North America, South America, dedicated Hosting and changed the price range from $10 and above.
Success! 18 hosts came up in the search ranging, there are so many settings you could put in the catalog search that I could have gone on forever, but check it out for yourself.
The site even has a very useful buying guide for tips on getting your own website.
Overall I did find the Web Hosting Ratings a very useful website and for those looking for a new host or even starting their own website it can be a valuable tool.

Bookmarked, and will be shared with a friend I think very soon – a few are thinking of making the switch from blogspot/wordpress.com to a self-hosted WordPress installation, and I’m sending web host reviews their way. This would definitely be a useful service for them to know about.
Also: thank you so, so much for the tweet you gave recently. I’m on a major push to get traffic and I can use all the help I can get.

Thanks Karen. I’ve always had trouble looking on Google for ratings for different hosts because of all the competing sites out there. This site will help my search a lot.

Talk about just what the doctor ordered. I just recently started looking into moving my blogger blog to a hosting site of my own and having seen a few domain sites on some podcast shows I watch I had inquired as to how to chose which one would be right for me. This site you wrote about basically answers my inquiry. I look forward to looking at the options and peoples opinions about them and hopefully find the right hosting site for me. Thanks a million. Excellent article.

I’ll check it out Karen. We have several websites using several hosting accounts. We need to boil these down to one or two. At one time, my husband thought it prudent to have a website on different IP addresses (and I submitted to the idea against my better judgment). Now we are saddled with keeping track of about a half dozen different hosting accounts. The learning process costs, eh!

I think that the hosting companies have to get in touch with them, I know if EvoHosting was on there, they would get my vote and review

Hi Karen! Thanks for your information about this website. I really get a lot of information about webhosting in this website. However, i’m using Hostgator now and i’m quite satisfy with the service. I do not think that i will change the hosting provider currently. Anyway, it is a good website for us to gather the information about hosting.

This is a very useful website. It is very easy to just enter a website and search for hosting providers. More user reviews and rating would help a lot though in taking a decision.
I tend to stay away from these hosting review sites when looking for a hosting company because they driven by affiliates and are bias towards whichever hosting company pays the best comissions, rather than giving an accurate review of a hosting company.
If you want an accurate review the best thing to do is visit the forums.
We are hosting with FusionHost at the moment and they are very good. We have been with them for about 6 months now and I cant fault them. Their prices are also very reasonable.
