If like me you use iTunes, there comes a time when you have probably made a few playlists, these can be for anything, like a party mix or even something where you have selection of tracks for a certain mood you may be in.
I like to have a collection of different playlists with ones for my favourite remixes or ones containing a certain word!
The one I really listen to a lot lately is the one that I made from the music from the TV show Monkey Dust, which has been getting bigger over the time that I have discovered tracks that were used in the classic BBC show.
So what’s your excuse for making playlists, do you make then often, or don’t you bother?

I make playlists to match my moods. If I’m in the gym, it is music I can run or work out to.
If I want to relax…relaxing music!

It’s a option in iTunes that creates a playlist based on the song you have selected

Not often, but we do have them. My favorite is soft to medium classic rock. Ya know, Boston, Supertramp, etc. (I’m dating myself here) Really my first playlist choice is Christmas music, but ya can’t listen to that year round, despite my 4-year old daughter’s desire to do so.

My family has aided my addiction to acquiring MP3 through iTunes. I max out all the gift cards… but you know, there are many more sites that offer free MP3s. All of my ringtones are from such sites that I have put into my Audacity and cropped into ringtones.
However, for every ringtone, I still have the downloaded iTune and even re-bought the CD to the band or artist related.

I have to admit that I do buy CDs, and the tracks that I do download on iTunes are the hard to get ones, or ones which I only just want a single track and not the whole album

I don’t use itunes, but I have playlists on my youtube account, windows music player, and my mp3 player. I have them for all sorts of things like certain visitors, I have a late-night mix, gym mix, work mix, and driving mix. There are some songs that are on almost every list, but each list is different and can stand on it’s own. Usually if it’s just me I hit shuffle and listen to them all mixed!

I suppose you could say that the playlist is the modern day equivalent to the mixtape

Hi Karen, I’m constantly making new iTunes playlists. When I purchase a CD from the iTunes store I always make a copy for my car and one for my Bose System. After I buy about 3 or 4 CD’s I’ll mix and match them into different playlists – one with all the slow songs and one with the fast songs. My latest favorite download is Herbie Hancock’s Imagine Project which is an eclectic blend of music from around the world. I think you would enjoy it too. Thanks for asking.

Great topic – I’ve always been interested in those who make playlists, I’ve been responsible for some of the worst mixtapes ever made myself.
As a result, I don’t really bother with playlists. I much prefer the shuffle option: I want my iTunes to push me to rediscover the music I sometimes am guilty of neglecting. It’s an awesome feeling to rediscover a piece.

I actually don’t make that many, but most of mine are either sub genre, last played, play count, or rating. All of which tend to be smart lists.
